I'm sure it was an honest powering down mistake. Let's wait and see if they can clear up this confusion for the community. :)

Good response. I think it is fair to say that it could be either or, but until we know the truth it is best not to jump to any conclusions.

He was being sarcastic. I'm pretty sure @dan and @jamesc both know how to power down the amount they intend. Of course they could always add withdrawal routes but based on the past I don't expect that to happen.

Fair enough. Either way, I'm withholding judgement until I hear the other side of the story. Not disagreeing it is a valid concern though.

Waiting for @ned to comment these facts... This is serious...

The Community expects a response to this, we are talking about something serious.

okay, final get it. so the problem is about speed/amount, not date. correct? because it seems to me that 3 months have passed.
By the way, I just checked - @jamesc has stopped powering down.

he just did 4 hours ago Start power down of 6925639098.732360 VESTS

Interesting. I'll wait to see the comment from Steemit inc. Thank you for bringing this up Bernie!

This is very interesting. I've also noticed the price of Steem doing strange things on Poloniex. Something is suspicious.

resteemed for drama value. Here is a worthless token. Will likely match the price of steem soon.

Sorry, but I'm downvoting because IMO, this is FUD. The post raises valid concerns that I agree should be addressed, but I don't think a top level comment calling the platform's token worthless is adding value.

Not offended, I didn't intend for it to be the top comment.

I think people will see soon enough that steem is fine. These dacs, like dan said, are not meant to be lead by him. He just builds them :)

Good job, keep your contents promoted! :)

Just need to trust the system. It is still beta man, mistakes will be made.

There are many reasons to not trust the creators of the system at this point. Also, "beta" can't be used as an excuse forever. This isn't just some worthless coin (yet) where you can take advantage and lie to the community you're relying on to support what you build.

Totally agree to an extent. Of course this whole blockchain buzz is around not needing to trust the creators of the system, ie decentralization. So I am with you there. However, I do not really think that at this point of Steem's development this should be taken so seriously. While Beta is not an excuse that should be used forever, it certainly should allow for us to take the time to understand mistakes/lies before we judge them. We should definitely give @ned a chance to respond first. All in all, I guess our differences may come from that I may be a little more optimistic than you and I am certainly newer to Steem.

Also, "beta" can't be used as an excuse forever.

I don't think it can be used as an excuse now. iiuc, Steemit, the UI, is in beta. Steem itself is not.

Also, since when is "beta" an excuse for "i made a committment and failed to follow through on it"

who are we hazing i want in :D

Very true ! A responce is definitly waranted !! 👍

Interesting.

Almost @dan Announcement of two hours he resigned?

Serious business happening here.

I will adjust the power down to keep Ned's promise. No need to spread fear, it isn't easy to power down fractions with current interface.

Make sense. I appreciate the fast response.

Do you understand? Can you explain, how you see things?

I didn't do the math but from what Dan just said I understand that it must make things easier this way.

same as above, check steem whales you can see who powers down how much

check steem whales use http://www.steemtools.com he's dropping 70k Steem

Cheers :)

i didnt understand well

http://steemwhales.com/ and you can hover over the piggy bank o see how much is being powered down, either that or you can check his wallet, or his steemd page the link is the same as his steemit profile yours would be https://steemd.com/@surpassinggoogle but you should know that :)

i don't understand consequences related to power-downs/powerups

price fluctuations, if dan sells 1 million steem the price will go up since somebody would have found value in his shares. Therefore, making the steem more interesting to to others, not only that but since the number of steem on the market decreases the price increases :) selling has the reverse consequence, so when somebody starts powering down and selling the price should drop depending on the number of steem being sold. Something around those lines, I'm no economy major :D

i have one questions here; in general what do you think is encouraged from steemians in general to raise the price of steem; is it powering up or keeping liquid steem? what good exatctly doesnt powering up do to the price of steem? does it keep it high? why do people recommending powering up apart from curation rewards? i am asking in relation to the price of steem!

I think it factors in towards the reward pool, but the market price plays a bigger role since that boosts everything. Keeping the Power let's you say how much you have VESTED in the platform figuratively and literally. So how much trust you give it, otherwise for example if I didn't trust I would take out my ~50$ and just use that fuck the platform fuck curation it's boring, just as a example.

the sad thing is... if you will start power down, price will continue to fall.

If you have enough faith, don't fear, it's a chance.

dan why not spread the pool or power up the steemit acc :)

Seems like an easy enough update...

Also, you're a fucking dick for the flag. Douchebag.

Really? He said that ge will not upvote or post anymore, but he continues with flagging?

great flagging is not voting :D it's still flag for abuse :D flag you flag you too, let's see flag all of yous :D jk jk

You really don't know what all this means?

I proposed removing it. It was rejected.

who rejected it and why ?

Ned and sneak, because they fear competition.

But you can join Golos team and continue work with Steem codebase, right?

I think we can find a warm place for Dan =)

what competition?

Good question !

@mammasitta only potential competition. Under the current license the Steem code cannot be used unless it has the approval of Steem inc like golos received.

If it were removed, there would be nothing stopping the community from fracturing and splitting off to form a new coin, correct?

I think that would be possibly one of the best things that could happen to the steem codebase. Multiple data formats/models, rewards structures, and experiments to really test how best to use a content based blockchain.

Competition isn't something to be scared of, it's something to spur competition and innovation, and drive you to success.

nothing except the belief that steem is more viable than a potential new coin.

abit a sphere, I'd join it :D why not STEAMY :D so it's spelled correctly :D

Reply to @sigmajin here due to nesting -
Then at this point in the game, the fear is probably justified.

I'd be scared of the competition too at this point. Probably the best move to draw this out a bit longer...

@dan, when is the next launch?

proposed removing what?

the license that bars other to fork without the written permission form the main branch :) I hope I have answered all of your questions :)
