Did Steemit go hard left?

Did we just do what Bernie has been advocating for 50 years? Do you think that this will benefit Steemit as a whole? Is the Steemit economy a mirror of the real world? Would we better off if we did what steemit did in the real world? I guess we get to find out! Discuss in the comments.

It didn't redistribute anything. It just stopped disproportionately distributing power to the top. I'm going to write about this when I have a bit of time...

I look forward to it, it redistributed it visa vie the payouts of new coins. Originally the payouts were disproportional to the whales, who could be thought of as the Capitalists, in favor of the the minnows. While it didn't take away from the whales original stack, it did lower the inflation of the wealth they already had. I think that it will force whales to have less steem generated, and that will be replaced by higher overall prices. This will bring probably way more users obviously.

Giving everyone a fair chance using free market principles is not leftist ideology. Now forcing me to give my rewards to others without my consent is.

This is forcing you to give your reward to others, if your a whale and vote on your own posts. There is only a certain amount of Steem created each day and allotted to rewards. Before this was determined and given by and to capitalists, now the minnows will be deciding where that goes. It's somewhat a more socialist system, where the old one was more capitalist, old money/steem whales could be considered capitalism. It's interesting, that's for sure.

Well chalk one up for the little guy. And certainly no one is forcing anyone to participate in the system. If people don't like it they can choose not to play the Steemit game.

Very well said! image

I see many benefits for all of us. Egual "say" will boost the earnings of minnows and will help whales!

it probably will help the whales through higher prices instead of more steem

Increasing the money all around is not leftist in the slightest. It would be if leftist if 50% of all whale earnings were distributed to the rest of the community.

This didn't increase the supply, it redistributed the supply. There is a specific amount allotted each day for rewards. In the old system whales could be considered the capitalists, they have lots of old money, where now they don't matter as much and they get less of the daily pie and say in who gets that pie.

Sure but if we are seriously suggesting that whales won't be the number one profiteers from this new system we are being dishonest. There are more followers than whales by several orders of magnitude. If the follows vote is worth more, then those with more followers earn more. I bet the whales are delighted by the new system.

I think it will translate to higher prices instead of just more Steem for those whales. So in a way if that is true they will make more $ but everyone's Steem will go up by the same percentage. So no matter if you have 10 steem or 100000 you would make 10x USD should it go to $20, which makes it somewhat more fair.

Oh yeah I agree but I do think that with the sheer mass of followers some people have, they would want their audience to have more vote power because it will bring them more steem per post.

This is new politic program from Bernie? Sorry, too late Sanders.

Next is free steemit college for all!

redistribution will not give a good chance to newbies to grow up here and also they will not have a good incentive

a mirror of the real world..
