Maybe I am wrong, but I view it as a slap in the face. Like my post is being laughed at.

A 1% vote is worth nothing, therefor the fool leaving it is worth about as much. Pay them no mind - they are LITTLE - LITTLE people and aren't worth your attention.

Exactly, it is like tipping your waitress/waiter one penny vs. nothing at all. A penny is a deliberate slap in the face, $0 is cheapskate/forgetful/unintentional/uninterested/etc.

I guess you could look at it that way as well.

I just gave you a 100% vote, and I'm a 6-figure rock star!

Then I upvoted my post with 1% power, just to prove what you can do!

Learning is FUN!

I just started my first STEEM business, but it takes a lot of work to build a good post to prove that what I did was VERY VALUABLE to the community. But I will work hard...Stay tuned and you will see!

Thank you Rock Star.

The 1% vote can be a kick in the teeth, especially with curation trails. Some people who may have upvoted 100%, ended up voting 1%. I autovote @bola posts 100% using steemvoter

Thank you.

I agree. There seems to be a lack of generosity sometimes. Perhaps the hard fork will change things...
Also: upvoted with 100%!

Thank you.

I go down to 10% sometimes when I'm doing a lot of voting, but generally keep it above 20. Lots of voting power still today, so here's the full enchilada.

He whinge too much, he hardly upvotes back

Very helpful information, I'm still new and learning. Thank You.

FFogive me, I'm still kind of new and learning. How does one decide how much of a percentage to upvote? when I click on the upvote button, I don't get an option to decide a percentage to give.

A slider will appear once you have enough Steem Power, I think it's around 800 but it's likely based on vests. So not sure of exact number.

I think it appears at 1m vests which is currently 452.27SP.

I think I heard it being 300 SP.

I got my slider when I was at 250 SP, so I think vests are the most likely reason.

I didn't even know I could vote by percentage.

You probably can't yet. It takes a lot of steem power.

I agree as well. 1%? REALLY? Pathetic.
Good post, I give you 2% skim upvote, haha.

lol, better than 1%.

I don't actually vote too much, so I try to hit 100%, but no less than 30%. I think it's too much work to have a slider. Giving the user more mental work in the math to figure out what to vote with only increases the likelihood of less voting... it's too many steps. Just click once and have your vote tallied is my suggestion.

I have voted with 50% on some posts because I wanted to try the slider. But I a will drop that and go back to the 100% - I agree a vote should be a vote with no sliding Maths involved

I will upvote this if I can vote @bola

I'm still new to steemit and not familiar with all the apps. Ibringawareness helped set me up with steemit and last I conferred with him he said I had 100% steem power. Does that mean I'm using 100% steem power? Are there any drawbacks to using 100% when up voting?

.

Like you said, its optimal to go for 20-25 posts per day if you choose to upvote 100% voting power.

But for me, someone who reads a lot and likes to vote a lot as well, I feel like it is more important showing the person that someone acknowledged and rewarded your effort into posting and publishing content. Than to skip said user just because I have already voted my max of my daily votes. That's why I some times start voting with only 30-80% votes here and there, so that there is more for everyone but still my voting power remains most effective.

That makes a lot sense. I might try it to see If my curation will go up using that method.

I always wondered if people would actually do that as I think the lowest I have had so far was %15 I would of thought %1 was pointless as surely you wont get anything out of that? Maybe I am wrong and they have their reasons? I also thought you get the option at 300-SP for the percentage? Or is it 3000? upvoted %98 lol

Thank you.

If you get 1 % from me , you should know why!
It mean you are still being followed and you are not following back.
Stop complaining, I take any upvotes anyday better than none. Many upvotes don't even worth much these days. If you know how to use your slider properly you , you can give more to other

I got a 1% the other other day. It made me feel the same way! I was also thinking about how cool it would be to have a upvote button as my profile pic. Wait...... @bola are you my Mr Robot/Tyler Durden?

Oh, man, I feel you. I was so disheartened when I saw a string of 1% votes for some of my posts. I might be wrong, but I think it's related to the number of votes they give. Giving someone a 1% vote would still count towards them contributing, especially users with high SP, but they'll have enough voting power to give a higher percentage to posts that they like. I think it's not a matter of jealousy, but strategy. I'm not ruling out greed just yet, but I'm sure they have a tactical reason for why they do that.

1% votes still count as an upvote, so I guess we could sulk and overthink the reasons, or we can just be thankful for an upvote we received, no matter how small it is. It comes down to a matter of perception. (I thank my buddy @lukestokes for that realization)

Personally, I vote 100% every time. I don't spend a lot of time on Steemit like I used to, so whenever I see an interesting post or a post from a user that interacts with me, I give them the whole of my upvote. My reason for that is I want everyone to be compensated for the effort they put into their posts. And, hopefully, that good karma goes back my way as well.

1% votes are like leaving a stellar waitress a couple of pennies and the lint from your pockets as a tip. It's bullshit.
Personally, I hate the slider. I think it's inappropriate to anyone who has less than 10M vests...and the closer I get to that milestone the more I think the vote slider should disappear until I'm at 25M vests.
I get reducing your vote power to upvote on comments...and even then I usually leave it at 100%. Why not? My full powered vote still only commands a few pennies.

Well when ned upvotes you at 1% I think it comes out to 50cents :)

Well maybe some people don't trust the game as being totally transparent. It can be very easy to open several accounts, make very hard questions and win it with the other account. I play from time to time but 90% of my upvotes are with #steemsports.

SOME people have been seen to flag and downvote anyone who says anything that they do not like. I'm not speaking of the reader I'm speaking of the writer. I've engaged by means of comments and for my trouble I've been flagged. This has made me a bit leery of responding to some types of post.

So I damn them with faint praise.

Who could be upset by an upvote?
