Here is the fact about which our community is very quiet. Steemit removed @thedarkoverlord. I wouldn't go into discussion about ethics and moral of @thedarkoverlord endeavors. But what is the most painful here is that Steemit by removing @thedarkoverlord also removed our comments and upvotes. This, together with last @ned's fiasco with dismantling STINC up to the point where he almost screwed everything is enough for us as community to start thinking how to get rid of STINC and Steemit.
The only question now is are we up to the given task?
Steemit front end was created and ran by steemit Inc, they can take what action they like and they will reap the consequences.
Why should they risk years of litigation for someone who is basically acting like a digital blackmailer. If their content is so great, do a Snowden and share it.
Luckily, there are many other front ends available. So it's no real news at all.
Please stop the fud. They were not removed from the blockchain.
Where did I write that they are removed from the blockchain?
If you don't like it, present us with a better option. Otherwise you're wasting everyone's time.
Steemit Inc hold millions in funds that can be used to develop the blockchain.
You want the community to cut them loose and turn to who? You?
It's easy to pull things down, much harder to build something
You didn't answer my question? Isn't that waste of time?
Totally agree. See my comment below.
They risk years of litigation anyway if they don't curb accounts like DSJ. Why go after 1 and not the other? Too many accounts are not who or what they say they are and it's getting a little thick here.
Have a good one @kabir88!
I am no fan of steemit Inc, but when you operate a business that has a legal presence in the real world, legal considerations do matter.
I don't know the reasons for the inconsistency. It will just be another one of these mysteries I guess.
You can get rid of them at anytime you wish by choosing not to log onto THEIR site. Not sure who "we" are that you are referencing.
I have seen several posts lately suggesting a fork take place that would rob the founders of their stake. Maybe that is the we you reference. That would be suicide, not only from the public scrutiny on the sidelines, but for any potential future investors who would rightly worry their holdings would be what, stolen from them if they failed to meet your approval? Not sure what else you might be implying by getting rid of them.
To date, there have been zero forks that have performed better than the main chain. When forks have happened, it has damaged both sides. Not a smart move and one that should only be taken as a last resort.
"We" is the community. And "getting rid of them" implies combination of marketing, code development and infrastructure development in purpose of diminishing Steemit importance, especially for the new users, to the point where nobody will regularly use it. Is that too hard to comprehend?
Calm down, they're still on the blockchain.
Also real question is what else did they censored.

Currently the following people have their Steemit account "deleted":
@mateja.klaric
@xondra
@tgylhn
@vichkovski
@wizzymt
@thedarkoverlord
Some users have single posts that have their contents replaced with a message saying that the content is illegal, but nobody else has their entire account removed from Steemit.
Thanks for answering! What do you think about @inertia flagging this post of mine?
They usually send Bernie so you may have hit a nerve.
It looks like that. They even shared all of this on their discord channels. The truth always hurts the most.
Well, I have some more stuff they'll want to share on their discord channels, but I don't really feel the need to publish it, they are doing fine without me. The B.S. is getting a little thick here. They had been warned about a dumpster fire up wind and all I have to do now is wait and keep a supply of popcorn ready for the shit show that could erupt any day now.
If it does happen, I hope it's better than Hockey, eh?
Of course they are. But they aren't on the most popular Steem client the @ned's Steemit.

Then why are you intentionally spreading FUD?
You didn't read what I wrote. Steemit took down @thedarkoverlord from its site. I never mentioned that they are removed from the Steem blockchain.

Flagged for intentionally spreading FUD by using a misleading blockchain diagram that has nothing to do with anything.
@inertia there are only two possibilities here:
You are too stupid to not be able to see association between blockchain diagram and Steem blockchain and decentralization. And you are too stupid that you think that writing about Steemit censoring the world wide known hacker group is FUD.
You are doing this on purpose because this is your task as a censor.
I like option 1.
Upvoted, for intentionally spreading FOMO. :)
It was always clear to me that Steemit Inc. is able to delete accounts (access via steemit.com). Did anyone ever read the TOS (Terms of Services)??? It clearly states:
So, there is no reason to complain or fuss about it. The moment you apply and get a Steemit account (or busy, whatever, the TOS are similar) you agree to the Terms of Service.
STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM STEEMIT IS NOT STEEM
Of course we know that Steem is not Steemit. But why are you fogging the fact that Steemit is the most known interface for Steem? And that Steemit is first resource for potential new users? Lots of users left because of Steemit wrongdoings.
Simply because comments weren't about steem not being the same as steemit. Why are you asking stupid questions?
You basically demand that Steemit, a registered commercial company, should risk prosecution and elimination to publish a blackmailing hacker. No sane CEO would do that, and if @ned would, I would seriously question his management abilities.
Steemit inc. has the full rights to remove that content and to banish the user. As others pointed out, it'll still be on the blockchain and other frontends can decide otherwise if they want. The game is called free market... If there is more gain than loss in publishing that stuff, there'll be publishers. If not, not.
I don't demand anything. I'm just pointing out that STINC looks the same as Facebook, while they are claiming that they are different.
@ned already proved incompetent in his recent fiasco.
I'm not discussing STINC's rights, I'm pointing out that they are creating gap between Steem and Steemit. But somebody already wrote, that's actually good thing. That's one more step in Steemit not being #1 interface to Steem. Like right now, I'm writing this from Busy.org.
Thanks a lot to all fellow steemians upvoting this post! Thanks for saving it! Thanks for fighting against SP bullies! Thanks for fighting for freedom of speech!
You'll be okay...
Here is what I recommend: Use a different front end. To be fair, I didn't love the decision to remove their posts either.
Also, these are the lamest hackers I've ever heard of. So, there is also that.
Does Busy take percentage from rewards?
No, they do not. And they give a nice upvote based on your followers.
That's great! Thanks for the info. It also has nicer UI and UX.
Hey, I forgot to mention that you should use the tag... busy in the first tag place for the upvote.
Doesn’t have to be first tag. I’ve often used it as last.
Oh, thank you... :)
Agreed.
There's no need to get rid of steemit. Just use whatever alternative you like. Fortunately, there are several. You could also create your own. It is the blockchain that is censorship resistant, not any individual interface. If I were to create an interface, i could choose to censor it or not however I want. I don't necessarily agree with Steemit's choice here but it is their's to make.
That argument would be OK, if Steemit wouldn't be #1 interface often confused with Steem blockchain by common users. Steemit and STINC affect whole blockchain and the community by their actions and irresponsible behavior.

Very concerning indeed. Even more so with the outrage of some users in the comments and the flags which made the post "invisible".
Still there are lots of good people here saving the day. Thanks everybody for your support!
Congratulations @boyanpro!

Maybe on Partiko or Steampeak, but not on Steemit.

What part of my sentence "Steemit took down @thedarkoverlord" isn't clear to you? Are you aware that I wrote "STEEMIT" with "I" and "T" in the end?
Look at the post again. I never mentioned STEEM, only Steemit and STINC.
Congratulations @boyanpro!

You hit both the newcomers and global hit-parade. Well done!
Please do not spread the FUD. Steem Blockchain is 100% censorship free.
What? They can't remove anything. They just removed them from front-end, they are still on blockchain and visible with other block explorers and front-ends.
This are blocks and I don't see any connection to Steemit.com that removed @thedarkoverlord for breaking the ToS.
I wrote exactly that: "Steemit removed". Are you another asskisser or just plain stupid?
Maybe you understand this, but many users will think that Steemit removed them from Steem. You should be more precise.
Again you just proved another point of mine. Steemit is perceived by common users as a central point for Steem, and as being #1 interface for Steem it has negative affect on the community when it is going away from what this blockchain represents.
This is all a joke... the steem blockchain that is...
I wouldn't fully agree. The community is great. Also the blockchain is great. The blockchain is super fast, it is processing a transaction much faster than some of the most known blockchains.
What really is a joke her is Steemit and Steem Inc (STINC).
Posted using Partiko Android
Too true. Probably some of the best PR for the censor-less nature of the platform and STINC shuts it down while there are tons of refugees from FB and YouTube looking for a platform. This is even more stupid than the HF20 roll out.
At least they didn’t have a Patreon account
ohh. i get it. you're just a troll. answers a lot
fuck off
