I heard from one such guy (dolphin) this week saying he no longer feels the same about the "Steem economy". However, he still plans to remain active here and use the blogging platform. He's now powering down but that's the only difference.
Some people change directions, find a new platform (or blockchain) that excites them, etc. Honestly, I think the whole concept of cryptocurrencies and blockchain is so new, that there's no such thing (yet) as a true hodler. But with that said, I'm here for the long-term and know that you are too @drakos. So let's cheers to that!! :)
