I think the biggest problem people see is absolutely no way to communicate with Ned and Steemit Inc developers.
Current state of steem blockchain could sustain a large further development, maybe 10x to 50x from now in terms of value. Blockchain world is a very conservative place in terms of rapid changes - bitcoin protocol didn't change much since 2012.
