In his epic crusade against Telegram russian communication supervision agency (Roskomnadzor) blocked main Steemit frontend Steemit.com. As for 12:00 UTC steemit.com available through VPN only for the majority of russian ISPs.
Busy.com and other frontends is still working.
RKN blocked more than 30 mln. IPs including Amazon and Google subnets. Many of network services hosted there fall as a collateral damage. Outages spotted in online games including XBox Live and PSN, Mastercard 3DSecure, major internet and even brick-and-mortar retailers.
Telegram itself mostly not affected.

Governemnt doesn't like encryption of telegram. They want to read messages of potential terrorists and other suspects, but they can't do it because telegram protects this data. They've asked telegram CEO to provide a backdore for official to read ,essaging, mr Durov stayed layal to users privacy and human rights.
For now steemit is a collateral damage in the war against telegram.
But it is a matter of time when it will be blocked on purpose. Anybody could say anything about Putin and left unpunished - this is enough reason for blocking.

Easily. We as a community should think about means of avoiding blocks right now. Like simplified lightweight steemit frontend.

It's a very stupid thing they did, I use vpn and I still here. Nothing will stop steemit or bitcoin or cryptocurrency !
