Strong Upvote, Steemit needs this! But be aware that after releasing it will require a lot of attention because Steemit is still beta and any change can take down the app. ;)

Agreed. We've gone to extra lengths here to decouple the app from STEEM where it makes sense. Without going into too much detail - we have a thin, light-weight abstraction layer that helps isolate the app from the blockchain in key areas. That should help mitigate these concerns to an extent. That being said, I agree with you completely...best to be proactive as opposed to reactive. This is another reason we absolutely needed to run our own nodes.
