I was expecting a slow reaction but we got this upswing instead.
Posting about the price of Steem is what everyone wants to do when it goes up or slumps. Having watched this coin for a long time before joining the community, I know that most alt-coins follow whatever bitcoin does.
When bitcoin drops, Steem usually holds on and doesn't react violently because it has value in its members. This drop in the market, whatever the cause, took a long time to bring Steem down with it which is why this immediate spike is surprising.
Bitcoin goes from $6,950 to $7,393 and Steem doubles. This was a surprise.
I have been taking what little available money I have and putting into Steemit. I have seen the days of seven dollar Steem and I thought I had missed the boat coming in financially only a few weeks ago (seems like longer) but, this price rise gives me much more confidence in the coin. Let this be my first 100% power up post.

The right time is to buy on the way down and just after it moves up. Don't worry. A steep spike like this is usually followed by a drop - a doubling in price is an over reaction to a small climb in bitcoin. It will drop a bit, then buy in with what you can.

Yup, I'm shocked to see a huge difference from yesterday to now. Things changed quickly. I'm happy that steem is going to moon. I'm waiting for higher rate just like Dec 2017 so that I can sell steem.

I happened to be looking at the price when it started to pump. I converted my sbd and powered up. Had I waited I would have made more on the conversion but it was still fun. I bought some last week at 1.89 and was waiting to see if it hit $1 but it didn't make it that low so I feel like I missed the boat on the dip. I previously bought in in the 3s and the 6s so I needed this lol. Fun ride isn't it?
I made my first money in bitcoin. You never miss out. When Steem is at $6,000, you will laugh about the days you worried about buying at $1.50 or $3.00
The first quarter of the year is always low and sluggish. I am very glad that I finally took the plunge and got into Steem - it is the fastest coin, the cheapest (no fees) and the addresses are the easiest to remember!

You are thinking backwards. I know the dollar has the potential to reach zero. So somewhere on the way down when a hamburger costs $180.00 or so - yeah, steem will be about $6,000
The above scenario is valid only if Steem does not increase in real value. Have you seen what is happening in Venezuela? People escape to other countries and try to sell 20,000 bolivar bills for pocket change. Dollars, pesos, bolivars...
They are paper - they rip - they burn - think.

I hope you're right. I mined a bunch of bitcoin in 2012 and the wallet was lost. I still kick myself. I need all the steem I can get lol. I imagine that If I had that bitcoin I would have sold it over the years.
I sold my bitcoin when it got slow and expensive. It was completely unusable from Dec 2016 till recently but If I had held it, I could have sold what it for 19k (no way to transfer it anywhere, but I could have sold the private key)
interesting. I never thought of it that way. I hadn't considered how useless it had become. I probably would have done the same thing if I had held it.

If the price hit $# then I missed it. I just woke up now.
I checked the chart and it did get pretty high while I slept. Back to $2 now. I'll take it - no complaints.

This is incredible that price rises up so rapidly. What if steem go to the moon approximately 10 USD then we all feel cloud on mine due to the biggest change. Just looking for more increase

I trade my SDB for Steem at .843 and sell Steem at .98 or 1.003 for SBD. I have gone from 600 Steem to about 720 Steem in the past few months. Too bad the Steem to USD has gone down. Steem to Bitcoin has also dropped over the past few months.

I was stunned yesterday when I saw this! Anybody knows why STEEM and SBD increased that much? I just recognized all started in the Asian Market and other markets seem to follow but wasn't able so far to find out the reason.
PS: With SBD that high I would recommend you using the 50/50 split on your posts. Since you will get more STEEM out of it when you change your SBD for STEEM on the market when the SBD prize is above $1,00 USD!
