I happened to be a member on the Africa unite channel on the discord then someone asked @dragonslayer109 what he should post. He actually needed help about what to write and post on steemit. Besides I have been asked the same question by new users on Steemit. This is one big problem many face on steemit. I would not limit it to only newbies as it is something that confronts many on this platform. It poses a big challenge to all and so I write this post with aim of helping people who face the problem of what to write and others who easily become disappointed when their post fail to receive the needed attention and votes, more importantly to newbies on the steemit site.
As they say a journey of thousand miles always begins with a step and so there should be a startup. There is no need to panic about what you see on the trending or the hot page. You've got to do your best and do it well. Since my membership on the site, I have seen many people getting fed up and leaving or staying away from doing any active work whiles others progress at their own pace like myself. So what caused that? The worry of what to post and the deprive of confidence as a result of a post receiving less or no vote.
Make the most of steemit

The sustenance of any enterprise does not depend only on its wide coverage but the number of useful activities it presents to its users. This platform has sustained since its onset in 2016 and still vibrant because users has found it useful. There are a range of activities anyone can get involve and so it is important to discover a niche that truly works for you. I have come across articles that give tips on how you can make it through on steemit without even writing anything or posting anything, undoubtedly it sounds unhelpful, the system requires something from you, ''post and earn''. I will say this is the fundamentals on which steemit is built. If nothing is posted then what will you be voting for and if you do nothing what will you be needing votes for? This is why we all need to offer our quota to the site. It is not required of you to write as others, draw like others, just be yourself and discover many activities done here...
there are photo contest, colourchallenge and many others you can engaged in and not necessarily about wearing yourself out about what to post.
Just share your experiences

Credit
When you discover a category of which you can thrive well then it becomes meaningful to stick to it and do more. It is easier interacting on steemit when you share your experiences. I have come across that many times on steemit.
@sweetsssj shares more about her traveling experiences and so has got a lot to show the community and she does it so well.
Many of the post I have read from my good friend @jaynie are based on her daily experiences.
@positivesteem does it better too with his remarkable experiences about being positive.
it is easy to be intimidated by that long post with more votes which was on top at the trending page but hey! just focus on what you can do and do it. It is always easier when you stick to doing what you love. The site is not about writing alone.
People would love to hear of that story you have to share, to know the places you have visited before, the kind of work you do, the kind of lifestyle you enjoy most, your understanding about the world of business, your hobbies, the games people would like to play, life issues you think others will find interesting, problems people might need solutions, what inspires you and you believe will inspire others as well, how you have been managing your finances, the kind of approaches you resort to in dealing with a particular issue.... and many more. You simply enjoy the steemit interaction when you share your experiences.
Be driven by your passion

Credit
Do you remember the first time you heard about steemit? it sounded to you a great idea I guess and there was the urge to join and make the most of it. Passion is what drives us to do the things we love and to do it well. When there is a strong desire to do the things you love it eventually becomes successful. The idea of steemit is always fascinating to people when you introduce it to them but then the likelihood of giving up set in when you are not given the attention you expect.
Understand how investment works

Nothing good comes easy you know.. the more reason you should be concerned about pursuing than withdrawing . Steemit in the long run will be one of it kind in the blockchain and that's a good reason for you to work at your own pace till you reach a good height. Good investment takes time to mature. At a reputation of 25 as at my membership in July and a steem power of 0.500, I proceeded to a good rep of 52 and with steem power of 100 which entitles me to a good voting power. Being consistent and persistent indeed pays. Don't expect a quick upturn for now but a sure way as steemit remains promising.
It is normal to become discourage when your effort is not recognise. I recall feeling very bad during my second and third post and subsequent post as well because It received less votes. I knew I had to do more and keep up improving upon what I do. In the long run you will stand the chance of receiving the needed attention, keep this in mind.
Work with others as well

I love to think this way, "I am what I am because of others " Working alone makes everything very hard on steemit,. I think it is inappropriate going around begging people to visit your post to vote you all the time. it is right when you work with others for their support. I joined Africa unite channel and as a minnow who had long been voted by a whale, I had a privilege of @dragonslayer109 voting some of my post. Whales do sometimes come around to see what's going on others side of the sea..... hehehe.
By working with others through joining a team, following, voting, commenting, resteeming and taking part in contest you expose your work to great audience who will eventually help you out.
Though I may not be able to provide a comprehensive information you will need to work with on steemit as it entails a lot but I trust these simple tips will be helpful to all.
