Hello, I need some help on Steemit

Hi Steemians,

I have a question about the power down option on Steemit. How do i use it correctly? I have some Steem in my wallet like 5.838 and then it also says + 12.143.     You only own 5 Steem. The plus 12 is a delegation from steemit.
