RE: Apply here for dolphin support: 400-800 SP accounts.

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Hi @tcpolymath. I just came across this post a few minutes ago. If applications are still open, I'd like to apply.

I meet your three requirements.

  1. I am between 400 and 800 SP. I am at almost 560 SP, with 60 of that being delegated to the alliance, leaving me with just under 500—so no slider yet (woe is me).

  2. I am a community-oriented poster. On Discord I am a member of the Writers Block and their offshoot, the Isle of Write. I am a poetry editor on the first and help with poetry on both servers. I ran a haiku contest for a number of weeks and also was a judge on a poetry contest the writers block help weekly. Both of these things have passed on, but I do have plans to restart my haiku contest again in the coming weeks. (I love haiku and also do many translations of my own—I have 100 translation posts on my blog if you scroll back a ways)

I also try to support the Japan community, with a focus on expats in Japan, as much as I can, retweeting them, filling my posts with links towards them, etc. I recently started a new initiative, called "Random Japan" where I post more random photos of the country and less "typical" ones such as torii gates and other stereotypical views of the country. I have been trying to gather other Japan expats to participate in this idea under the "randomjapan" and "randomasia" tags. I recently expanded the idea to include other countries, and I now have someone from china doing a "randomchina" post and there are a few from korea also joining in.

I have several other ideas as well that I want to get to. One of which is a "creativeselfie" contest to engage the more artistic community. I have several posts I do where I post a selfie and run in thru multiple filters and edits until it is more abstract and less selfie, and I want to get others to join this idea.

Anyway, that is just a few of the things I am doing to be community-oriented.

  3. Yes, absolutely, my long-term plan is to be a whale. I have been working tirelessly since I joined Steemit in Sept to get up to the SP level I have now and I intend to keep going.

It is a bit too late, unfortunately, but I'll keep you in mind if I need to add to the group to keep voting power down. I really like the Random Japan posts.

I figured it was too late but thought I'd give it a shot. Oh well. Thank you for considering me in the future and thank you for saying you like the Random Japan posts. It was originally a filler idea, as I had at the time become too busy to continue with my haiku translation posts, but I have really been enjoying doing them and drafting others to join in on the idea.

By the way, I started following you and have been reading some of your past posts. Good stuff, esp the posts delving into the finer workings of Steem. Keep them up, please.
