New comers and looking after your vote power.

in #steemit8 years ago

If you are using this platform like facebook, and clicking upvotes as if they are likes, you are not helping yourself to grow.
You notice every upvote you do gets you nothing back? and every upvote is seemingly worth 0.00?
Well you have voted way too much.
Let's have a look at your vote power, and what you have left, or not as the case may be.
Go to https://steemd.com/@ after the @ put your user name, and it will show you your stats, if your vote power is below 90% then basically because we are not worth a lot, you are voting with little to no effect.
To get back to the day you arrived here with 100% you need to NOT vote, and let it fill back up to 100% or at least in the 90`s.
Then spread your votes out over the course of 24 hours, keeping the power above 89%, it also seems early voting on big earners is also a no no, leave it at least 15 minutes, there is a tendency to go with the flow, and vote for the trending, or top earners by us newbies, though if you stop and think about it, you and I are then not voting on the best quality material, so I now only vote on material I like, and people I like, we then ensure the rewards are shared more evenly than just giving it to the top 1%.

I may throw the odd vote in for a photo or a top earner based purely on the fact it is simply about motorbikes, and I love motorbikes, the point is, vote for what you like.

I hope this helps you understand voting a little more?

If any of the above is not factually correct, I am open to editing this, and to constructive criticism.

I have wrote something similar before, though as I now have a lot more newcomer followers I decided to do it again, please also check this article and 47 minute video, and it will help you massively. https://steemit.com/steemit/@deliberator/help-guide-for-us-newer-members

Peace and love, steem on and stay awesome!............

How about comments ? Do I get paid for comments or a trail of comments. No up-votes in any of the comment. Just a productive discussion.
Or up-vote is the only way you receive rewards.

you get paid for the upvotes you get on comments you leave on other peoples posts yes, you need to save the upvote for peoples posts, not conversations, the big boys can vote on your comments, as they can vote with percentage, we do not have that luxury as yet.

No payouts for simple comments which do not get up-vote ? People with low reputation never up-vote comments. Is it not worth commenting on such posts then.
I indulge in conversations anyways if the topic is interesting but at times I force myself into conversations.

That is the problem right there, you force yourself, I get upvotes on some comments at $2 or less, I only talk to people that put an article I genuinely like, people can see when you are being disingenuous on here from a mile away, keep it real, and only comment on what you know, or like, and the comment rewards will flow back to you, trust me on this one.

Even if I force myself, I make sure I read the article and drop relevant comments. I never post generic comments like Nice post or very good post.
Anywyas, I will keep on curating and posting stuff I like. Hope to get some good followers. 1 or 2 whales if lucky enough.

Thank you very much. I was told I need to vote like 50 posts per day and this has drained my voting power badly. Please do you get a reward if your post gets reestemed or you reesteeming a post? I will also love to know why the SBD you get from upvotes in a post fluctuates like reduces.

The answer to the fluctuation is due to the external market value of the sbd and steem, when it goes down, the pay outs go down, 50 post voting is extreme to say the least, I tend to vote for 3 in the morning, build back up to 100% then repeat another 3, and so on, you only get a reward for votes on your post not for reteems, likewise resteeming other peoples posts gains them exposure, it gains you nothing financially, you are in effect lending them your followers.

Thank you very much. This is very informative

@deliberator Solid advice! You're right on point. Keep writing, you're progressing very well! Cheers!

:-) thank you, words greatly appreciated.

but my votes counts for nothing (0.00)... so whats the point?

Have you allowed the power to build back up to 100% though? you can check here https://steemd.com/@ after the @ put sinlg you can then see your vote power, it needs to be above 90%, and takes time to fill back up, if you keep upvoting too much.
