why is it so hard to upload photos to blog? on facebook it's so easy!

in #steemit8 years ago

Okay  ... I'm Addicted. I totally love Steemit and can't help myself sneaking a peek throughout the day . I also have alot to say for myself and reckon there are quite a few people out there in the same boat. I set up my Steemit account by using  my Facebook login. Why can't I load photos straight into my Steemit blog direct from my phone, or even through or from Facebook? It should be so easy and yet even with a Steeming and then when that failed,  a Photobox account, I don't seem to have the knack of transferring  the  link. Please Steemit, make it easier!

I'm experiencing the exact same problem if you get the answer please post your success story.

Will do! It's so frustrating isnt it!

While I'm sure easily uploading photos is in the development pipeline.

Some ways to do it:

  1. If the picture is already somewhere online, lets use facebook as an example...right click the photo and select 'open image in a new tab.' Click into the 'new tab' if it doesn't already switch for you and copy the URL at the top of your screen. Paste this into your steemit post and check if it worked in the preview below. [Note: This method doesn't always work. Sometimes the image are prevented from being 'hotlinked' like this.']

  2. [My Personal Method] Goto http://www.imgur.com and click the green new post button at the top. A window will pop up that will let you either upload a photo or provide a URL (just like you got in option 1.) After you've uploaded the photo you'll see you're newly uploaded image in imgur. To be sure wait about 5 seconds to let processing complete, then right click this new photo and again select 'open image in a new tab.' Like before in this new tab copy the URL and paste it into your steemit post.

Keep Smilin and Steem On :D

Hi Sheand8. Just thought I would let you know that I have at last cracked the photo upload thing! I opened and account in Postimage.org and uploaded photos from my notepad, I used the thumbnail size. Also you have to wait half an hour or so as Steemit couldn't use them straight away. Good luck!

I upload pictures to
My control panel>pictures section
on My PC
Then I upload those Pictures
to Steemimg.com
When You Are
Doing A blog Post
Use Steemimg
Youtube has Some videos
over there by Steemers
I was dumbfounded,
So I went To Youtube

Thank you anns, i just cant get the Steeming link working ... grrr

Use The Landscape Picture to The Right
It Is By the Normal Square
The Link is For Websites
But , The Landscape Picture
Is For Photo Links
I use Steemimg.com
The Landscape Picture Has Mountains And A Sun
It is Right To the 2 Link Icons
That is The Photo Link Box

Being connected through facebook just means Steemit got some login details / token from FB, not that the entire infrastructure is now shared between the two sites.

As for posting images, it's just like anywhere else on the web - you pick file hosting service and stick with it. I stick to imgur, you can use imgsafe.org if you wanna do it incognito style.

Though you do have a point, for android the app is not working properly, and I afraid it makes people give up on posting. It's best to post from the web app on mobile, but do it like so:

  1. insert tags first, no caps.
  2. add text to post, might as well add title.
  3. click the insert image link, paste link, click go/ok/enter on soft keyboard.
  4. the picture will now be on the post, and you can press post to publish it.

I hope they improve the application and webapp to make it really bloglike.

Thanks for your reply. I know FB is just a way to sign up. Just so easy to put a picture on FB, i would like to see Steemit have the same easy format! I wont give up!

Upload the image to a hosting service such as imgur.com if it's not alread on the internet. Right click on the image and copy image location. Paste into your post. Credit source. Done.

Thanks for that, i will give it a try

I've had good luck, thus far, with https://postimg.org/. Just upload your images, and copy the direct link(s) into your post

Great to have received ao many helpful replies. Thank you.

nice next!
