I've been doing this since I started a year ago. It definitely helps the signal-to-noise ratio to get all those hidden or at the least placed at the bottom where they belong. It makes some people mad, claiming 'censorship' and the like. But this is our platform to use, and we have a vote on what we actually want here. Low value spam posts like those just bring everyone down along with the price. If we don't do something about it this platform will just be a bunch of bots posting "me too upsteem follow" on each others' stolen picture posts.
