RE: Steemit Winter Update: 2017 reflection, our Vision Statement and Mission, and a look forward

in #steemit6 years ago

Power up the steem you got 10 days ago from the SWC! Listen, you might complain, but it is how it is. Power up your winnings until you don't have any more bandwidth problem. You literally have to earn your space in these blocks ;p

Well said. A trial/free-demo isn't a product. It's a sample. Plus I had no troubles with bandwidth ever. It's recommended to keep 50SP. Until you have that 50SP you have no product. Nobody should expect that for free as that would be a commie free lunch which would basically ruin the platform and we'd have to migrate to YOYOW/TRON or something on EOS.

No sir that's not how it is....I can't count how many people did exactly that and still waited hours to get back online. If they had waited they'd got back on for free. There's a deeper problem here. If you go into a store to buy something you get something in return: the merchandise. If they are out of stock you get a rain check and/or you sign contract/paperwork that says they guarantee to give you said product in certain amount of time at said price. They can't just take your money and leave you stranded and that's what's happening. They also have to tell you what the price is for the amount being given or the product traded, like a scale. I filed on Family Video one year because they rented us a controller with a attached power pack, it was rented as a whole, we returned it a day late and they separated the controller from the power pack and charged us separately, sure it was buck but hey they can't do that without detailing the details. If people could do that you could go rent a rug cleaner and return it late and they could charge you separate for each piece. Details are important in consumer laws. The promise is that I get to earn money for me not to feed the system to keep it afloat, that's a ponzi, that's the little guy at the bottom keeping the top afloat and that is also illegal. I have no desire without justification/explanation/knowledge/understanding of why I have to make people at the top richer with money they said I could earn and power they said would make me more powerful not the top, me. So until some contract / understanding comes along it is up to them not me to keep their word.

I'm not sure you understand the premise of this platform at all. I think you should read the bluepaper. And whoever guaranteed you "free money" without investment had no clue what they were talking about either.

I don't think you understand the premise of selling product you can't deliver. I am not talking about myself per se, I wouldn't be stupid enough to spend fifty bucks to get five minutes worth of bandwidth let alone three hundred and hours later still be waiting for bandwidth, I am all about free and I have several other blogs i can go participate on while I wait. Then the guy who spent three hundred on bandwidth wakes up the next morning and he's out of bandwidth again. Wow, three hundred dollars for less than a day? Not even half a day? Really? Nope. There's something seriously wrong with that and if Steemit doesn't tell people up front what the cost are to participate in the site there's something wrong with that also, and at that price and the pennies being made by beginners most people would opt not to participate....it's like any investment you have to be informed of the risk, people can't just walk around and take advantage of people because someone can do a good talk, I am not saying that's what is going on but it's serious enough and cost people enough that those risk have to come forward so people can make informed decisions about the amount of time they want to invest in such a project and is it really worth it. It's as simple as black and white, you cannot sell a product that you cannot deliver especially if the delivery of that product is what you need to keep producing a return on your investment.

There are places online where you can find information which will help you to comprehend the bandwidth issue much better, I think.

If I've got it correctly, the bandwidth is a pooled resource and it fluxuates (not dissappears, like some country's internet subscriptions seem to run out of bandwidth.)and even the amount of bandwidth in the higher powered accounts fluxuates, it just does not drop down as low as a new account which has not invested their own money into the platform to get started. Getting started anywhere isn't usually free...

That said, I definitely feel it impedes progress to make it so difficult to acheive bandwidth... and also it would be a good idea to tell people before signup, (like make it obvious somewhere) that it will take a while to earn enough (SP) bandwidth for this to be a viable platform unless they invest in the platform out of pocket. Finding it out afterwards is a bit of a dissappointment and I feel that is what is affecting many people's attitude off the bat.

Anything you want to succeed at is likely going to take time, and work. Having no bandwith or going into the negatives by the hundreds as soon as you are ready to make that first daytime post is discouraging. Some people quit, some people push through. That's how life is.

However, the bandwith charges back up as the usage goes down in the 'off' hours, so they are not taking your money for a little bit of bandwith time that runs out for good which is how it seems you understand it. The more powerful accounts do get priority usage because they have invested more.

I had a little help because I was involved in a community of helpful people when I arrived at Steemit, so I was able to work my ass off to get a little SP so I won't have as many issues. For that I am thankful... And I think joining a community, looking to be a contributing member of that community and make friends would be helpful to you, rather than going to "the man" LOL for the love of GAWD. SMH, that's a problem in our world, so many trained to beLIEve that the govt has to fix our problems and be our heros. We need to be our own heros and stop running to the govt. Something people are not taught in schools. Go out and make friends, interact with people. No one ever said life was going to be easy. And it certainly won't be as long as people believe the govts have the people's best interests in mind. Just sharing my thoughts. Best, @erinn

Well I don't share your enthusiasm for letting people walk all over you and people will if given the chance, there's no such thing as universal trust and honor. I do appreciate your response, I agree they should tell people up wrong what the potential cost involved can be.

By involving yourself with a system which was put into place by kings and queens on the behest of the vatican, which has become well known for being filled with pedophiles and corrupt war mongers and asking them to fix problems you feel you see, I'd suggest that is far beyond allowing yourself to be walked all over.

You've seemingly removed yourself from the role of being capable of making choices that would rectify your own problems you feel you have. Like people used to go to attend the court to have the king sort out who gets to keep who's goat. Like children on a playground who've been taught the only way to solve a problem was to ask the teacher to sort it for them instead of being taught to make wise choices for themselves.

You are asking a system that wants to remove all rights to even protect one's family from harm, a system which has has brainwashed people into registering (REGIS) thier children and everything else in their lives to a crown from day one, as property of the state... for help? A system that enables corrupt agencies to enter the homes of good people and take children and sell them to the highest bidder (while getting thousands in kickbacks for of the people's tax dollars) causing them great harm for help? A system that has yet to address your tax dollars being spent on paying 5200 pedophiles in the DOJ at the Pentagon and elsewhere being caught almost ten years ago downloading child porn on govt credit cards with govt computers on govt time?

You are asking them to look at a crypto currency platform that you have chosen, just like many others, to join of your own free will and see if they are treating people unfairly? Really? If that's not selling yourself short I don't know what is. I'm not saying this to be offensive. I'm saying it because I cannot comprehend the way people keep asking the system that was put in place to enslave them, to be their savior. The simple choice should be if you don't like it, don't participate. That's just the way I see it when people tattle tale as adults. Are you reporting the federal reserve for fraud? I bet not.

I don't consent to be walked over by anyone. It's taken years of deprogramming but I have learned to take personal responsability for my own choices. When you do that you can learn to trust yourself not to put you into situations that dishonor you or reduce your sense of self worth. There's much bigger problems in the world than Steemit maybe being unfair. At least to me there is. I suppose it's all about perspective.

Sincerely I wish you well. I just patiently await the day when humanity refuses to keep playing the game by the rules of those who have enslaved them. ✌️

I've lost nothing. I, evidently unlike you, see the bad of both sides, it doesn't take kings and queens to corrupt and cheat others, you always have to look at both sides of the game. If there is anything worse then the powers that be is the powers that aren't playing the same game. It's the nature of the beast. There's no justification that just because they got away with it so should anyone else, nor is there for pointing it out. According to you I should be grateful someone gave me something.....I am hoping they will be just as grateful when I refuse to give it back. Sincerely wishing you well. I just patiently await the day when humanity refuses to keep playing by the rules of those who have enslaved them on both sides.
