Newbie Upvote Info!! If you are new here please read this for more understanding!

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

So I recently was reading through all the ins and outs of steemit here and discovered knowledge I had not know before the was effecting my interaction on here. So my discovery is about your upvote power, most people don't know this but you only have a certain amount of upvote power available.

Every time you upvote someone your upvote power decreases by 2%. You of course start out with 100% and it drops as you upvote.

You gain 20% power back everyday, so this means if you upvote approx. 10 times a day then you will always be within an 80% power with your upvote. If you go around uprooting everything you will have little to no effect besides a vote number.

Another thing about Upvotes is that if you upvote a post that is less than 30 mins old. All curation for upvoters is delegated to the author. Sometimes this is well deserved but at the same time we should be earning curation if we are helping the post get more votes.

My advise is to really critique the content you are reading before really giving it an upvote! Don't just upvote it cause its flashy or has a cool picture. Really give it some thought about what has real value to you. This is the magic behind steemit it, if you are sharing content that is unique, interesting, and helpful then you will be rewarded.

I hope this bit on info will help our community not get sucked up in the masses and really uplift individuals that provide you with good quality content that deserves to be rewarded!!!

Hey brother! I had no idea you had joined Steem already, or I would have been showing my support. Looks like you're starting to grasp the concepts. Do you understand how Steem Power works yet?

Absolutely, one thing I can't figure out is how much SBD you will give someone with the amount of SP and the amount of upvote power you have? It's good to be on here, I really want to meet up with you talk about what I have been doing and what you been doing.

My understanding is that it is not a fixed ratio and depends on the amount available in the rewards pool as well as how many others are using their votes that day. I'll try to find a link that explains it better. For sure man. Shoot me a text and let's get together soon.

Really good info! I had no clue about the 30 min timer, and didn't know exactly how much steem power was lost when voting.

I am glad this was useful to you :)

Thanks for sharing @enolderman :)

Your welcome!!

welcome! to the steem room!

Yea this confused me at first. If you go to Steemd.com/@yourusername it will show you what % your voting power and bandwidth is along with some other information. Happy Steeming!

Nice thanks for the tip. I checked it out good to know where my value votes go!

Word up, man. Concise and spot on.
