The difference is, this suggestion is based on a consensus amongst a group of influential steemians.
I may be wrong, but Grumpy cat seems like one or few individuals trying to forcefully impose their will on the rest of the platform. Their cause may (or may not) be noble, but the way it's achieved can be a harmful precedent.
