Three of my Steemit friends have been saying "the competition is coming" - I just want to start by saying that upfront, because they will all think I'm talking about them and giving them shit. I'm not, I'm giving all three of them shit at once to save myself some time.
I keep asking them "what is this competition?" Here is some of the "competition"
Trype
I'll start with TRYBE (Trype) - After signing up and trying out Trype - my verdict is - geek central, hard to use, runs like a pig, bored my pants off, heaps of stuff needs changing...
I know it's new but steemit was never that slow, and it has rules on what subjects you can post about, what images you can use, and who you can vote for - or you get banned - my immediate reaction is "fuck that..."
So I now have an account but will I use it? - very unlikely. Does anyone on Trype have pants?

A mystery to me is why Trybe is such a dog - is it is revealing just how bogus their design skills and EOS itself all is? If they are "geniuses" why base the site on Wordpress? Wordpress is great, but not for doing this.
Why can they no longer even do so many things they could do when they started Steemit? Like come up with the basics of a clean functional design which to this day nobody else seems to be able to come close to.
And does anyone else here think EOS is a giant scam anyway? Yes, I really do think it's over-hyped bollocks! I bought it for $6 and sold it for $12, gambling that the hype would bring it up, and it did, but like bitcoin I have no faith in it and wouldn't continue to hold it. Why is this crap crypto being hyped? - As a rule of thumb, whatever is hyped is always a scam.

This is just a blatant exact copy of Steemit. Except that it is missing something really important.
It has no interesting content, and none of your friends will be on there. In New Zealand we use Trade Me for selling stuff, while Americans have the totally inferior but still functional Ebay.
But this is more like Steemit trying to be Ebay. I hope they realise having no pants can be fatal.

Whaleshares
WhaleShares is sort of a fork of Steemit that seems to aspire to be more communist in it's wealth distribution. I guess people with no money on Steemit could go and have no money on Whaleshares instead. But why?

Why is the competition all so crap?
This is so frigging glaring I'm getting suspicious - most people will stick to Steemit because it was first (like facebook over G+) and because the feed on Steemit works. People always tend to say the new sites are great, but then they lose interest a week later.
Maybe we are not seeing a genuine platform development competition, but a multi layered psyop like fakebook vs G+?
I'm just not going to use any site that can't present a functioning home screen - even fakebook has always had that - this is like something from the late 90's when I was doing my own websites but had no idea what I was doing.
Except that back then we all were learning and changing our sites every day - not just leaving glaring design faults sitting there - in Steemit's case for years. (I want night view, bookmarking and formatting like on Steempeak - but with a list feed so I can actually use it) The very fact that all this is not even being discussed is suspicious as well...

OK if the competition is coming - please name some more of it in the comments right here, I'm still looking for some new pants. Nobody on Steemit saying competition is coming seems to be able to name anything good. I'm checking out every site that anyone names, and they all suck. For all it's shortcomings I think Steemit spanks the others.
I'd say Minds is probably the best I've seen so far, but it has the same basic problem as the alternate Steemit front ends like Steempeak and Busy - the feed doesn't have a compact list view so you can't scroll quickly through the content. And for me that totally kills it.
Maybe if I paid for Minds Premium it would work better? No, fuck that for a joke...
