It would be nice if you could see what the tags are when you need to add them to your thread. Being able to click to add would be even better.

I agree. The challenge is ... As the number of possible tags increase, it would be difficult to present them all coherently.
Alphabetically with scroll bars. If it gets too big search partial name below. For instance typing steem would jump right to steem and the list would filter to only words starting with steem.
