News Flash: The same people who are on 4chan are on reddit are on tumblr are on cnn.com are on twitter are on facebook are (or will be) on steemit.
Think of "internet" as an adjective.
What happens when you pour the underserved from existing social media censorship into a site?
Furries, Pizzagaters, Anti-vaxxers (we already have some of those), MRAs, /r/The_Donald, 4chan, 8chan, all of the wretched scum and villainy from across the internet is soon going to notice that you can say whatever you want here. We'll censor the illegal stuff, of course, as we are required to do by the men with the guns. Beyond that, it's going to get really... diverse in here. When that happens, it will mean we're doing our job well.
If you think about it, the people who are posting stuff that is uncontroversial can already post to reddit or facebook or twitter or instagram right now and hit a bigger audience. They will come here for some set of the community, the rewards, and the content policy. Rewards aren't very high at the moment and the community is very small, so that leaves one primary attractor right now...
As long as you can figure out how to let sub-cultures have their own piece of 'land', figuratively speaking, and allow them to play by their own rules and flourish without disturbing other communities, this could work. Whats the ETA on copying reddit?
