Probably the missing link between the current situation and Steemit world success.
How would it work?
A referral system is already coded in BitShares, the implementation in steemit would be an "easy" thing with the current dev team.
All the accounts created after the referral program integration would redirect 5% of their revenues with the person who referred them.
That's it! No complicated stuff, just a small invisible cut on their net profit.
What would do a referral system in Steemit?
Can you imagine what you could earn if you bring a medium youtuber? A good blogger? A famous person? Or simply hundreds of new users through social channels?
Can you imagine what you could earn simply by sharing nice blogs on Facebook, Twitter, ... with your referral link is part of the blog link?
Could you imagine the gigantic tsunami of motivation that would be created into this community? Everyboby would start sharing content everywhere, creating blogs, articles and website to promote Steemit.
That could be the single most effective way to propel Steemit to the stars ... and beyond [ @officialfuzzy ;p ]
5% looks small to you? 5% means that every 20 active users you refer would bring to you the same money YOU would earn by being active yourself! Imagine now, 1000 active users ...
I don't see any good reason to not having it in place already! It's a free way to promote Steemit on a very large scale! Please, share with me your view on the matter, also tell me if I didn't consider an important aspect of the problem.
Specifics of the referral program:
- Steemit.com would redirect the money to its corporate account.
- You should be able to share content from others with your referral link.
- The accounts created before the hard fork would retain their 100% earning (bonus for being an early adopter)

Perhaps they are waiting to get the site a little stickier and more scalable before doing something like this? Because, frankly there really doesn't seem to be much downside to doing a referral program of some kind. One like you said could be a huge money maker for someone out there bringing in hundreds of people... it might even encourage people to start holding their own steem promotion/signup conferences all around the world! :)
That's why I created this blog. I wanted to have opinions. Also if this blog goes up in trending where it can be seen, we could have some kind of answer from upstairs ;p
I don't recall seeing the referral program as a part of the roadmap. That's also the reason of my blog.
I think it will be in the plans at some point, the question just becomes... when? Perhaps the new marketer would be the guy to talk to about this?!
Maybe that will be part of new marketing strategy from new marketing guy and new announcement later this week.
I hope so !
Wonderful! I have a lot of friends posting interesting things :)
Would you consider trying this challenge with your friends ?
I would like to see if dolphins and whales like the idea and would be inclined to help me vote these Steemit Tea Time blogs (#STT) so people can at least pays for their beverages.
Sure! It's a great idea (IMHO)
This is a great idea!
Let's see if the tag #STT become popular ...
Do you know something I don't Oo ??
Steemit lacks multiple language support, heavy marketing won't be launched before having this kind of issue fixed (imo)
This comment just makes so much sense. The language and other things to make steemit host millions! Not everyone knows crypto yet!

I see your point ;)
Nice post a good idea @glitterfart
Thanks for the feedback ;)
nice post @glitterfart thank for sharing
You are welcome madam ;)
It was proposed several timse idk why not relise yet .....
It doesn't make any sense. The only reason I can see is the fear of the platform taking off too soon ...
In this super fast changing world ... fear of too successful is not good at all, you have to surf the wave !
From my view its have to do something with the multiple acounts but not sure about .
There is no problem with the system. It's implemented in BitShares and the plateform is much more complex at the economic level.
Hello my friend
Is the referral program approved?
Approved ? Do you have more info than I do ? Where is the proposal ?
My friend just ask if the assignment program is in the platform
I would appreciate it if I understood a line
Bin dabei ;)
Good job!
Just pointing out something that could be beneficial for Steemit.
you're right
Yay, why not, seems to be a good idea.
It is, that's why I don't understand why it's not implemented.
What about a similar page to promoted, but content shown is based on each user's referral rate/quantity.
I'm not sure I understand. Do you speak about a specific way to create this referral program ?
Referrals are already built into steemit, there's just no reward/incentive to actually refer users.
Well, that should be change, no ? Why wouldn't we want to use a free and powerful comercial tool ?
Yes, and I proposed an use for the referral stats.
Exchellent idea...Perfect post!!
Thank you for the good and hard work dear @glitterfart :)
Thanks you DJ Sonic ^^
Thank you for the info!
You're welcome madam ;)
Thank you for the info!
No prob ;)
we tried to get this in at the beginning, when there was still hype.
so far, steemit, inc is pretty immune to growth marketing. it's the reason why steem lost the hype train and is absolutely insignificant as a social network
We have to try again!
Agree ! 2k active users, no? After a year, that's ridiculous!
How could we have an answer from upstairs? There has to be a valid explanation. I guess that paging @ned won't have too much effect has he probably recieve hundreds of them a day.
With the ridiculous fee BitShares had, the referral was working for a while (before we lower the fee to absolute nothing). Imagine the same referral program but with the potential payout of Steem ... NETWORK EFFECT BOUM !!!!
2k users IS NOTHING for a social network. nada.
Any up dates on this idea?
How to find my refer code in steemit ?
Steemit lacks multiple language support, heavy marketing won't be launched before having this kind of issue fixed (imo)
it might even encourage people to start holding their own steem promotion/signup conferences all around the world! :)
