Hello my fellow Steemians,
I realize it's short notice, but if you are any where near the Philadelphia area this coming Tuesday, please come on out to the meetup!
We're very excited to get the ball rolling for 2018, with many great things in store for the community. Let's share what we know, make some connections and have a good time.
When: Tuesday January 16th 6:30-9:30pm
Where: the Institute Bar (2nd floor) 549 N. 2nd St. Philadelphia
The purpose of this meet up is to create a casual forum where Steemians from around Philadelphia can meet each other face to face in order to create real world connections. It's going to be the first in a monthly (or quarterly) event that will allow participants to get to share technical information about the Steemit platform, exchange tips on how to increase their rewards, discuss blockchain and cryptocurrencies, and of course anything related to living here in good old Philly. This first installment will be a casual meet up, over some food and drinks. Future meet ups will include technical presentations by prominent local Steemit users, helping new users with account creation and group upvoting to help those attending to increase their Steem earnings.
This meet up is open to the public and anyone who is interested in attending is welcome regardless of whether or not they have a Steemit account. A fair of the amount of the discussion will include blockchain and cryptocurrencies in general such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, Etherium and more. So anyone with an interest in these topics (regardless of their technical background) is encouraged to attend.
Location: The good folks at the Institute Bar 549 N. 12th St. Philadelphia (just a few blocks north of Spring Garden St.) have graciously offered us the use of the 2nd floor for this event from 630-930. There's no cost to attend, but we ask that everyone shows our appreciation by ordering some food or beverages.

You should do it and see what happens. All it takes it picking a spot, setting a date (2-3 weeks in the future, at minimum) and letting people know. If you have local crypto meetups it's worth networking there because people are already receptive.
Seems like the Steemit community really wants to get together in person where possible, so give it shot.
