Direct messaging. I'd be very happy if it could eventually evolve to encrypted so messages are private.

    Agreed - that would be huge! Busy.org actually does already have this though. If this is a wanted feature, you should check it out. Both steemit.com and busy.org are connected to the same Steem blockchain, so whatever gets posted on one site will automatically show up and be viewable on the other.
