This idea was first described by @fyrstikken. So I thought I'd document it a little. Originally, I was calling it the Vote Diversity Reward.
Problem to solve: Everybody votes for the same people.
I'm sure there are exceptions, but that's the frustration.

Turns out, there's a great report that does this live:
Fast forward over a year later, it's been done! It's not an on-chain feature, but it's still a great implementation by DMania. Good on them!

The way that I typically vote:
That's a great formula.
steemworld.org has this built in with the Voting CI index:
But what practical use would it have, outside of knowing the score are there any technical changes you suggest that would make that score affect something?
Since the SBD pump, the amount of curation has drastically gone downhill.
The way DMania implemented it, they only apply beneficiary rewards to delegators if they're over a certain ratio. So, in this case, it's an off-chain implementation.
Originally, I would have liked to see some kind of on-chain logic, but that would be difficult to define and implement in a one-size-fits-all approach. For now, off-chain is fine.
It was great to find myself a balanced curator.

I'm trying to support other people. Some of them are the newbies and voting for their posts is not profitable but this is about... how you call it... "spreading the spirit of Steemit:-)))"
Close, 0.985 )))))
So I guess this means we should vote for more people than they vote for us. Hmmmm it makes one more relevant too.
Its really also very frustrating when you upvote lots of people and you get little or no upvote for yours. Really frustrating. The upvote should be mutual. Thanks so much for this @inertia
My vote diversity is 0.962.
how do i find my vote diversity?
http://steemreports.com/outgoing-votes-diversity/gini-simpson/?account=skeptic&days=14
Thanx!
:D
i just use the site without that weird gini simpson stuff.
do you know if it takes into account comment votes?
I am pretty sure it accounts for your comment votes.
weird cause when i look at everything on steemd it sure doesnt look like 25% of my voting weight is going to me. 2 posts in two days and 328 upvotes for other people at 10% or more per vote. so my two 100% auto upvotes on my 2 posts compared to my 300+ 10% upvotes on other peoples posts and comments is 25%?
Maybe my maths is all broken.
I guess i need to put more time into reading more posts and comments then actual posting then?
I am sometimes trying to find new Steemians to support, but it is also difficult to keep up the VP.
I am usually upvoting my friends, the people I follow and the people who helped me a lot from the beginning.
I have some days when I am looking for hours in New tab but it's hard to select some steemians.
I did everything manually and three days ago I decided to create an account on streemian to diversify my votes, this is just experimental, I like to do everything manually...
Really, everyone votes for the same people, this doesn't help the newbies in the community.
Am I winning?
would that it were so.
Nice post @inertia! #spreadsteem
