A lot of new members including myself came on steemit with huge expectations for rewards from content we publish. And after finally getting that coveted key you just couldn't wait to get your hands on reality then sets in, for new members there isn't this huge bank dropping on your posts, crap if you get 0.01 you have to consider yourself lucky, this turns into new members complaining about the site, them not making money and older members saying that you are acting too entitled. But how do you think new members came to the conclusion that they are going to make huge earnings from posting on steemit? Well you need to take a look at the videos aimed at drawing new members in with words like "Earn $30 daily by just liking or commenting on Steemit" while some of these posts are made to just share their success because hey you are proud of your achievements it still gives people false hope. Now after hearing and reading all that majority of the people who join are going to be looking for that same success and after trying for a while and not succeeding they will eventually leave or start complaining, because what was promised or the major success of others which was posted to appeal to them just wasn't what they received ,so can you blame them for giving up when reality sets in? Majority of the new comer’s posts gets buried the second they are posted and with up vote bots (which they won't be able to afford just starting out) pushing other posts up, whales supporting whales if you are able to get yourself a whale up vote then consider yourself lucky. It's a cold torturous road for the newbie spending time on a post but not seeing a return then looking through the trending pages only to see the same people over and over of course you would get disheartened too. Next time you see someone complaining about what their expectations were vs the hand they were dealt first think about what they were told before joining, don't blame them, look to those who are recruiting members by giving them false hope and expectations.
New members try to support and build each other but they got so many zeros before another number appears ,it would have been better starting off with .01 or even .005 damn you could a 100 up votes from your fellow newbie’s and still come out asking what happened, were my sbd stolen? Lol. So to all newbie’s who may read this post before joining let me set the true expectation, yes you may be able to make some money and if you are lucky you could end up on the trending page but don’t sign up holding your breathe that this will happen to you, come in with the expectation of making a few cents or nothing at all unless you decide to invest in buying steem and upping your steem power or you 100% positive a dolphin or a whale will up vote you. Instead if you decide to join do so for the experience and put your eggs in more than one basket as in pimp your posts to other websites because there is no guarantee that you will be successful so treat it like you would any other business venture hope for the best but set your expectation to reasonable limit. Some may say oh well if you do blogging you don’t start earning right a way and that’s true but what’s also true is that an old post on a blog from 5 years ago can still help you earn but on Steemit you earn within the first 7 days of posting so then that post is just sitting there for the next years unable to earn you anything.
This is just my opinion I welcome the opinion of others this is what it is about voicing your opinions and hearing what others have to say. To all the new comers struggling like myself let’s not give up hope push on and still put out your content meet new people and have great conversation in the hopes that one day it will change and like I said before PIMP your posts.
