So we have the benevolent whale @randowhale that everyone knows and adores.
There's the friendly @minnowbooster powered by @thecryptodrive & @reggaemuffin boosting steemians across steemiverse.
We have @aggroed's @lovejuice spreading love and cheer!
Basically, a lot of new bots are popping up to help Steemians help themselves and get that extra push.
Scam:
But then I noticed something fishy today.
I saw a comment from a supposedly new bot @getvotes that was promoting itself on another post. And the bot itself got a vote from @randowhale.
The Fishy Part:
So I checked the bot out and the basic rule states that:
amount greater than 0.5 Steem or 0.5 SBD will get you a 100% upvote from @getvotes
amount greater than 3 Steem or 3 SBD will get you a vote from a big fish
1. It will vote with what ?
The account itself is new and look at the delegated SP:
2. A user sends 3 SBD
2SBD goes to @randowhale.
What about the magically disappearing 1 SBD?
Let me know your thoughts on this.
And if this is indeed legit, can the real person behind the bot present himself and explain (Unlikely).
Would these fine folks care to answer instead?
Parting Thoughts: Please be careful with your hard-earned steem and think/investigate properly before sending SBDs.
They all are just playing games with minnows
yes, such scams should be identified and stopped as soon as possible.
Good post, I'm done with randowhale, tried it a few times, but everytime it gets lower and lower, not complaining but after the HF19 we are talking like 10 dollar update, other day sent 2 SBD got .75.... no thanks!
RESTEEMED, thanks for the info!
@jznsamuel its good to see a brother wake another up to be alert for these fugazi ponzi's
thanks u for sharing, very helpful me...
what bot can trust ?
the ones i have mentioned in the beginning are safe and verified ones.
Thank you for sharing this scam :)
glad it helps!
this information will save many people
yes, hopefully people think two times before sending their hard-earned money
thanks mate - i better be careful of these scams --they are so tempting-i am a new follower and upvoter for you
My post from earlier today shows how Randowhale is receiving $1000USD per day from it's users who should have received that money themselves, just due to the timing of the votes and the way that Steemit pays out curation rewards: https://steemit.com/steemit/@ura-soul/alert-steemians-are-losing-usd1000usd-per-week-to-randowhale-when-the-vote-isn-t-completed-fast-enough

Thanks for the heads-up ☺
thanks andy :)
I would tend to agree with you @jznsamuel it is such a shame that people would do this to folk, to try and scam them out of their hard earned steem. It spoils the whole community spirit that steemit is trying to build.
exactly, it's not like you can try to scam people and get away with it. the community is all about helping and growing together.
Nice job, and thanks for bringing this to light @jznsamuel.
We all got to keep our eyes open and spread the info about these scams
thanks @cryptodan
You just took words from my tongue...i was just going to post about it...these are certian emerging or new users who try to earn via shortest route possible by Thugging people.
Although, i don't use Randowhale as of now coz it also many a times led to my loss but still @randowhale seems legit while looking at their Wallet likewise @minnowbooster and @minnowsupport are very much user-friendly as the user almost never gets less than his sent value of Steem or Sbd. The New Bots thus should be flagged if possible so that they get what is called Taste of Karma
what you say is absolutely correct. there are a lot of scams around, it's easy to lose money so it's the duty of every steemian to report something that is not right.
Just stick to good old original content creation and grow organically and be yourself. This is not a get rich quick scheme.
true, but sometimes bots help. you only need to know which is a legit one.
