Sleemit.com
This can be particularly hard to catch.. especially if you aren't paying attention for it!
There is a new scam out there and Sleemit.com is the culprit..
Some piece of shit has created a website that looks EXACTLY identical to Steemit.com!
The difference? It's a PHISHING scam! They're trying to STEAL your passwords!
As you can see, a simple letter changed is causing people to get scammed! They even got it HTTPS secured! These are clever, yet absolutely stupid, at the same time.. people!
I logged in to Sleemit.com though.. What do I do?!
Well, if you can, recover your account, if you've lost access!
If you haven't lost access, then you need to QUICKLY change your passwords!
If you log in to this website, they will FOR SURE have your information!
If you noticed you had to "re-log" back into "steemit" any time recently.. You most likely were NOT on Steemit!
How can I prevent this in the future?
First off, ALWAYS check the url in the bar. This is vital.
Steemit.com will always be the website you're using, if that is what you use, so if you notice it does NOT say "Steemit" but rather, ANYTHING else.. You are the target of a scam!
Secondly, pay attention to your account.
If you log in and are going about your business, then all of a sudden you are logged out... Something fishy is going on.
Steemit does NOT just log you out for no reason, it is not designed like that...
Lastly?
Pay. Attention.
The easiest thing to do to avoid falling for some bullshit like this... Is to ensure that you are paying attention to where you are, on the internet, and what you are doing, as far as account information/logging in/out goes.

Unfortunately.. beyond the "recover account" option.. There is NO way to recover your Steemit account...
Once someone gets a hold of your private, sensitive information.. That's a wrap, if you cannot take necessary action in time.
If you've become a victim of this scam and have lost your account.. I am truly sorry. :/
There is no shittier feeling than being scammed, especially blatantly, and losing everything you worked hard for.
All I can say is.. Make a new account.. and don't give up hope...
Rebuild and make SURE that you forever take the necessary steps to ensure that your account is secure and does not fall victim to the scams of some pathetic piece of shit bent on screwing people over...

very nice post. i think the issue of account recovery can in a way be salvaged. one can report the account and get it blocked while working on the account recovery only if you still know your master key. But this may take time.
