@haejin @berniesanders @ranchorelaxo @ned | Make Steemit Great Again!!!

I've been following the "debate" and reading comments. I've been silent because I think a person has the right to use their upvote power the way they want. If @ranchorelaxo wants to upvote @haejin with each post - the current steemit rules allow it. Knock yourself out.

However, I do think haejin's posts, for what they are, are over-upvoted. Therefore my upvote will go elsewhere.

I can't be silent anymore because this has gone too long without a resolution. This is decreasing the platform's value and hurting members that are trying to increase Steemit's value.

I do feel sad that ranchorelaxo isn't spreading the wealth and supporting minnows that are trying to make steemit great as well as supporting haejin.

Steemit's value will only grow if we support steemit minnows that are making great content. I don't want to even think about the minnows we have lost in the past that were discouraged because they post content that get's a few cents and see other content like haejin get $300-400. Haejin gets visibility because of the level he has received, but there is other crap content out there that get paid out big as well.

Clearly, upvoting rules are not optimal and there are many loopholes where upvoting is abused, misused, etc.

Where is @ned and our mighty witnesses?

This debate needs resolution as it negatively affects all of us at this point.

I have never powered down since I joined but now I think Steemit is going the wrong direction until this is resolved.

Power down initiated. There is better crypto out there that deserves to be in my portfolio.

Steemit will organically grow so the problem with upvoting will be hidden. However, the upvoting problem will not be able to hide forever. It will only be harder to resolve in the future.

Well, you are right, but I guess you have some presuppositions here, that are wrong.
First, you assume, that all of these "players" are intelligent and reasonable people. This is obviously not the case. The moment you want to enter in some kind of reasonable discussion, you get downvoted by either one of the parties and their bully-gang/bots. It´s censorship par excellence what is happening here. People don´t dare to speak up or downvote, because they are afraid to get bullied. This is not different than a school yard brawl and some of the people involved are still in this stage of their development as a human being. In my opinion @heejin is the least to blame, since he is doing nothing wrong here. I also don´t vote often for him, because - as you said - he is overvoted anyway, but at least he is not actively stealing our rewards in any active or malicious way. Yesterday I wanted to use some upvote bots just to see, that this bully you mentioned above was betting horrendous amounts to upvote his hate "postings". This simply is a misuse of the system and taking away rewards from people like me, who want to promote their work and get seen. Even writing this now has the potential of getting bullied the primitive way.
The second assumption you have is, that crying for the teacher/father @ned etc will change the situation. As I said above, these are children that want to test out their power in the most primitive way - speaking to their reason won´t help...
That being said, my solution would be more article like yours, but with the focus on what we can do. First thing would be to make clear, that upvoting and resteeming hate-posts is spreading the hate and therefore not the way to go among adults. I would recommend to ignore hate posters and starve them of what they are begging for: attention by any price.
I hope this article is read and re-steemed as much as possible and reaches many people to make them aware, what they are supporting.

Ignore and refuse to resteem personal disputes. This sounds like a good solution. It is not coerive like crying for ned, but uses ostracism to push out malfeasers.

Now what's with grumpycat and the "bot wars"?

I've seen some hullaballoo about that. ..

Something needs to be done. It has gone on long enough with no end in sight.

Yes, more people need to voice their opinion and hopefully the "teachers" will finally listen.

I think that the problem here is that some individuals have established a controlling interest on this platform and from their perspective there is no negotiation. The only way to resolve this may be to either come up with a solution as a community or steemit must establish some sort of moderator to regulate this kind of power. It's like if we were playing Monopoly and someone ended up with all the pieces, we wouldn't be able to play any more and we would have to start over. We don't have a monopoly here but more of a cartel. I think the survival of this platform is going to depend on these issues getting resolved.

Yes...bots, upvotes, etc. the community needs to weigh in and vote on solutions. If steemit grows these problems will only magnify later.

I suppose If each group just cancels each-other out that would also work. I think us little guppies need to be careful who we support. The last thing we need is to feed the killer whales in hopes that some cent's will come our way. Doing this results in the reward pool now being gouged even further.

Let the Titans fight, but just don't throw your money in to watch it. Give your money to each other and to quality.

Thank you ,,, I really agree with you @kryptonaut (57)

Thanks brother. This has gone on long enough.

Its hard for us minnows and new people to even get Steemit going because its all way too top heavy. Thanks for the post, and keep spreading the word!
