Steemit Etiquette

It's absolutely amazing how well behaved everybody is here on Steemit, it's a huge milestone in the evolution of the internet.

Did you see any vulgarity or profanities, bullying or harassment ... anywhere?

Hopefully more people will continue to learn non-violent communication techniques instead of judgmental language while claiming to know the motives of others.

What happened to

The result of it is a very civilized culture of respect and etiquette.

?

You don't know me and yet you've made quite a few inflammatory claims here.

Is Milo on SteemIt? He should be.

You bet he will :-) He's an intelligent civilized troll who actually just trolls back. I'm sure he will come here soon.

i love the civilized discourse i find here. there is some abuse of the flag but, more often than not it is accurately applied. go steemians!

It's a small community, thus "so far so good". I think it can change a bit if the userbase explodes, although flagging will do the trick. I suspect the problem will then be about proper flag use and abuse.

It wasn't so bad on USENET back in the day, outside a few newsgroups.

Hopefully the system will work to disincentivize bad behavior, but I wouldn't consider the issue settled yet. The initial participants make a difference.

We all await the presence of Saint Nero.

There have been some harassment and bullying here on Steemit but not to the extent that they jeopardize the whole community members and Steemit itself. Isolated cases. But overall, I believe people in Steemit have behaved properly.

I have made a series of Steemit Etiquette blog posts. Vulgarity and profanity is in fact next on my list.

If you have time, here's my latest on this series.
