What can we do about it?
According to this calculator, it would take 800,000 Steem to have a $100 upvote. 1 Steem is $2.64.

With $1,000,000 USD worth of delegated Steem you could provide upvotes that make an impact. Not enough for folks to live on in western countries, but significant gestures and motivational rewards.
And that $1,000,000 investment, while obviously a risk like any crypto, would hopefully increase in value along with the value of Steem. It wouldn't be spent, it would potentially even grow.

Now, I have an obvious bias in that I would spend a great deal of my time in the @steemmakers community. Others might want to encourage artists, musicians, video makers, world travellers ...
The obvious objection is who in the hecking world has a million dollars to put into a venture such as this, even if there are some modest potential rewards?
Rather than one person with a million bucks, I am thinking more likely 1,000 with $1,000, or 100 with $10,000, and so on.
If i had a million dollars.
I would have to wake up in 5 minutes
I can not even imagine this idea. But this is not impossible. In 1637, tulip madness came to mind. Tulip with tulip contracts. The onions were 100 times higher. I hope steemit people will not encounter such a result. Thank you for sharing @makerhacks
If I had a million dollars...
I would like to have another million more :)
i hope you have it @makerhacks
i don't want ;)
If you had 500,000 SP, you could make a great living off of just self-voting!
Think what good we could do in the world with it though, and all without touching the original 500,000 :)
I believe there’s over a million Steemit accounts already. Imagine if every account invested $1 at the same time? That would be huge!
I think that your questions are the reason you were given the 6500 SP. to do good.
