Building the Steemit Community from Here Forward

in #steemit9 years ago (edited)

I have noticed people speaking various languages on Steemit, everything from French, German, Portuguese and Spanish to Chinese. But they don't get a lot of Votes. Steemit actually has a fairly large Brazilian user base now, and they have been saying that the platform is biased towards Native English speaking countries. And it is. Steemit is a brand new Social Media Platform and they have not had time to implement anything like a language selection option for the site, etc. but that is because we are still in Steemit Beta. Things like that are supposed to be noticed now, so that in the launch of the full Steemit 1.0 site, they are already prepared for things like that.

But there could be an easier fix. Pretty much anyone who has used Steemit for a few days knows who @berniesanders is now, and how he has probably been the most generous whale since the July 4th Steemit coin launch. And these two things gave me an idea. Everyone should start upvoting people who speak foreign languages, the people coming on here speaking foreign languages are all trapped in a STEEM well, we could be creating a true upper and lower class on Steemit, and it wouldn't be whales and minnows, it would be North Americans, people from the UK and Australians in the upper class and everyone else in the lower class we shouldn't worry only about what we are making, but how the community is going to be shaped going forward. There need to be some people that speak other languages who have the STEEM Power to build in the Steemit community for people who speak other languages.

So if you think about it, and you see a post where someone is speaking a foreign language, but they seem to be a legit person that actually exists. Give them an upvote.

Right now there is an influx of new users, so the people with high STEEM Power can't get to everyone. But over the next month or two, as more and more people get STEEM Power (this just started July 4th) there will be hundreds and thousands of people that can give .01cent, or .05cents, or .10cents, all logged on at the same time. So making $20.00 or $30.00 on an average post won't be as hard as it is now. Just give it some time to balance out. Write some good articles and work with other people to create groups with common interests. Everyone is bound to get a post worth $1000 in a good amount of time if they really add value to the platform as a whole, and will get a lot of large but smaller upvote rewards before that.

Everyone should use Steemit like a Social Media Platform, or a Blog. Use @ symbols to tag other people. Read someone else's post and refer to it. This is just getting started, but it's about to grow exponentially.

Would be cool to see a translate option integrated with reading and posting. Then we could communicate more freely around the world.
