STEEM Bots

in #steemit10 years ago

This is an update to the Original post about STEEM Bots which can be found here:

https://steemit.com/steemit/@marsresident/bots-and-the-steemit-ecosystem

A few Tools for Bot building can also be found there.

This post is to Update you on 2 new Bots (7 others can be found int he Old post) as well as a suggested bot.

1.

@calva is a Bot that used to just post random gifs and quotes on the Marijuana tag, and maybe in a few other categories. I have seen it in the Introduce Yourself section now, and it seems like it is offering to be a tool for new users. Now you can send it commands and it will respond with requested information.

2.

@jeeves doesn't have any public information available. I am not exactly sure what it does, but it seems like it posts in every single category, and maybe on every single post. And it suggests that you read the 3 highest paid posts in your category.

And then the suggested Bot. There should be a bot that does 2 things. 1, Instead of just randomly upvoting there should be a bot that you can request to follow your blog. And 2, there should be a bot that can chat. Like a chat bot that comes when you tag it, and maybe it could auto-upvote any replies to it. Just a suggestion.

One of the big keys is to look at how many down votes the bots receive. People don't like to have 1 person comment on their post not actually adding anything. "My mom died of cancer and I was hoping to find people here to support me" then a bot chimes in with "Great to have you here, take a look at some top posts. Make sure to protect your account. Have a great day!"

Eventually they will all get more sophisticated. And it seems like people ignore posts like "I'm looking for support" on Steemit. So maybe it would be better to get a reply from a bot than no replies at all. I have seen people saying that their children are dying, or that they need the support of the community to not become homeless, etc. And people just completely ignore them.

I try to post on these small articles, but no one else will see my content or know I am helping. So just recently I have turned away from it due to not being incentivized.
