RE: diabetes..... a silent killer

in #steemit7 years ago

well, as wit most diseases it has it's ups and downs. i have a string of awesome weeks where everything is fine, and then there are those occasional weeks in which nothing i do works...like the past few weeks, in which i have put on about 27lbs...and am retaining fluids. which aggrivates my arthritis and causes debilitating pain.

but that's the whole reason i posted this is to get the word out to anybody who might have 2 or more of the symptoms. They need to get checked by their Dr.s sooner than later... it can save them some of the problems i have to suffer with if treated early enough....

Sorry to hear that friend...sounds challenging. Maybe you could look into cannabis oil for pain relief and anti-inflammatory effects. If that's out of the question, turmeric can also help with the inflammation.

thanks for the support. but Dr. is currently fighting Ins co. for a refused perscription... going to try all legit routes first, as cannabis is not yet legal here(soon, very soon).

These jerks holding back medicine are on the wrong side of history. I hope you get some adequate relief soon!

i don't think anyone is holding back medicine... i think the bigger problem there is that big pharma is selling at excessive profits. While i understand that research and development cost a lot of money to develop drugs, and the clinicals they have to go through before the drug is ok'd by the FDA, there is no reason for a drug to cost more than $2.00 a dose after say a three year maximum to recoup R&D monies... yet my Diabetes meds cost before insurance 830.00 a month, and is a large part of why insurance premiums are so high... Thank you for your support, it means a lot. More importantly than that is if a few people couold resteem this occasionally so others can know just how important it is not to ignore any symptoms, and to get checked by their Dr. if they even suspect they may have two or more of the symptoms. IF more people wouldn't ignore the symptoms like i had, they might be able to catch it early enough(pre-diabetic) to reverse it... At my stage of the disease it is almost impossible to undo the damage to my pancreas. But i can make the dietary changes to save my kidneys, liver, prostate, heart, and circulatory system... that said, diabetes is always throwing a wrench into the works at the most inoppourtune times(like after my rotator cuff surgery), and does things like make me retain fluids, and weight(gained 37lbs. while being out of work recovering, and another 18lbs since returning to work in a restricted manner).
