What is Steemit?
Steemit is a decentralised social media platform which utilises blockchain technology to pays its users whenever they create content or interaction with each other within the community. Not through other ways like advertisements which ruin the viewing experience for participants of the social media platform. Moreover because Steemit is decentralised there is no control over who can join and what user can post. This freedom is very attractive for people coming from a centralised system like Youtube, where content is constantly demonetised and removed.
Why chose Steemit for a better social media alternative?
Firstly Steemit is decentralised which is often valued the most by its users, as people can post whatever they want without having to worry about being censored though the removal or demonetisation of content. Secondly the users have a say in everything that happens or changes, for example in any decision that Steemit faces whatever the majority decide is what happens, or for example how Youtube controls what videos can be monetised according to their “guidelines”. All these desirable attributes are what gives Steem immense value.
On the other hand other social medias having a lot of control within a centralised platform often results in content being censored, and accounts being removed. Which should never happen as everyone has the right to express their freedom of speech. Any social media platform such as Youtube should not have the right to control its users regarding the content they choose to create. In my opinion this type of control is very unprofessional, childish and unfair, as all participants of a community should have a say in what is allowed and disallowed.
