    I am really happy to see how many users are powering up their steem. If people believe in the system and think it is better for them to power up then it is a good sign for all of us and for steemit in the long run.

    I think we need to work on how to get new users.

    The numbers have been real stagnant recently, especially the "Daily Active Users", which in my opinion are the most important numbers of all.

    You would think with all the Steemit articles ranking pretty high in search, that growth wouldn't be an issue. Steemit is exactly like Medium, but you actually get paid for your work... so what's the issue?

    Many issues!

    • Hard to get traction - no attention to your first posts
    • Hard to know what to post here for success
    • Regardless of how good/big you are outside, you cannot succeed here without sp
    • Big technical learning curve on how to post or do anything else
    • Time intensive in the extreme
    • Scary whalewars and other cr@p in trending
    • Huge powerdowns as seen above
    • High level of spam

    I'll stop now before I make myself depressed. I have my list of 42 daily steemit activties to get to!

    Yes, all of the above is a big consideration, but Steemit is a pay-to-win system after-all, but if you want an awesome platform for discoverability, Steemit is topnotch in my opinion.

    This is a very good question... One of the reasons might be, that there is only a limited incentive for readers to create an account. As a reader/consumer, I can find posts using google and I can follow a blogger without signing up for an account. On some of my articles, I got a lot of views (at least compared to my standards and the fact that my account is rather new), but they were mostly from people outside Steemit and since they could read my article, there was not much of an incentive left for them to create an account. I don't think this is something that needs to be changed (I like the fact, that I can share my content with people that don't have a Steemit Account), I just think that this could be a reason that people hesitate/don't bother to sing up...

    Yes, that makes sense, and I too never want it to be closed off. Once Pinterest closed its doors to public (non-sign-in) viewing, I don't even bother with it anymore.

    Why is STEEM going down? The power down rate and the transfers arenˋt dramatically against STEEM. Any ideas 💡?
