The Events of the last 24 hrs have be very interesting, scary and eye opening!!
The last 24 hrs in Cryptoland has been a wild ride for STEEM and STEEMIT, We have see the Price of STEEM reach Highs in price, STEEMIT account's get hacked, people gaming or trying to game the system and #dan & #ned have a massive love affair with coffee (lol)!!
STEEM abd STEEMIT is the #1 subject, whether good,bad or people just trolling for the hell of it on crypto forum's and thru Social media channel's. It has been a phenomenal ride , from basically and idea to #3 on coinmarketcap, just look at the Alexa ranking Page at http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/steemit.com

The price was had a wild ride but as you can see by the Bittrex market chart it's s;ow;y leveling out around the 0.006 sat mark!!

So the value of Steem has been created and the volume is #1 on Bittrex!!

About 24 hrs ago some members of the Steemit community started to notice withdrawals from there accounts (I actually witnessed on user posting in the slack channel), about 17 hrs ago this post was made https://steemit.com/steemit/@steemitblog/important-security-announcement-steemit-ceo-ned-scott

To say some people hit the panic button's and there was a lot of chatter on forums,social networks and chat channels , but from my perspective it was handled in a professional, timely manner, everyone was kept in the loop and looks like they have or are in the process of mitigating the situation, Im sure #dan , #ned and any of the other dev's have had there fill of coffee and are on the case.
Being a new platform you will always get people wanting to see if they can cheat the system and cash in on any crack they can find .
But like i said there onto it and have a strong circle sorting this out ..
GAMING THE SYSTEM!!
I was on the general slack channel and there was a discussion about people trading and selling to there own accounts so they could get a bonus (market makers or something to that effect) one of the people said they were doing it , they said that they were doing it cause if they don't someone else will.
I mean they are operating within the system , but personally it shouldn't be done, we want a fair playing field here and would have personally reported this to the dev's (from my understanding this has been brought to the attention of the Dev's).
My Conclusion!!
We have a AWESOME platform and a AWESOME opportunity to create a place were everyone has the chance to be rewarded for there time,talent and contribution . We will have people always trying to take advantage of thing's and cheat for gain. We all need to be vigilant and If we see or even think something isn't right let STEEMIT know so it can be sorted before it snowball's into something that can hurt US and STEEMIT.
This is our place , this is a place for everyone!! LET'S PROTECT IT !!
Yes, I think the hack issue has been handled very professionally. #dan and #ned were very open on how things were unfolding. Good that those whose wallets have been compromised will be reimbursed and that the website was flooding with a communal effort to help each other increase security. You could find a flood of blog posts on how to change your keys etc... I'm happy with how things have been going so far. :)

We have to give it to @dan and @ned for handling the situation so well. Everything was handled so smoothly and so transparently with up to date information on their part.
And the best part is that the hack didn't last long and everyone was reimbursed too! Kudos steemit. It is so good to be here. Looking forward to staying for a long long time. :)
