It helps me to put unknown or unseen feelings and thoughts into a structure that seems to release it from being stuck within.
This is the heart of my writing through trauma teaching. It is wonderful you are doing this for yourself. I think there is nothing better than the right self-care tool. Especially when you are a survivor!

Thank you for your response. Writing has been very helpful to me. For decades, although only in the last two years has it been at a level where I felt comfortable sharing it. Through writing education, and also through osmosis -by reading the stories of others in a similar situations such as yourself and authors like @snowmachine -and seeing how words work when written well and from the heart.
