A simple trick to grow your Steemit following

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Starting out on here is tough - it is difficult to get upvotes on your blog. If you want to have a successful blog on Steemit, you need to grow your following. When starting out on the platform, I think your best bet is to engage with other users frequently.

  • Leave thoughtful comments on their posts.
  • Give them helpful advice based on your own experiences and knowledge.
  • Have conversations and make genuine connections.

If you write decent blog posts, this kind of engagement should get a lot of followers.

The following trick may help to increase your following with each of your blog posts.

I have done some testing and have found I get more followers when at the end of my post I put something like:

“If you enjoyed this, please follow me for more.”
“If this piqued your interest, remember to follow me for more.”
“If you liked this, please consider following me.”

But, I got even better results when at the end of my post all I put was:

"Follow me @shenanigator"

I don’t particularly like putting just that at the end of my post because I feel it’s a bit abrupt. But, as long as it’s the most effective I’ll probably stick with it.

Something I haven’t experimented with is putting a GIF or photo at the end of each post. It’s possible that this will be even more effective than the simple “Follow me @shenanigator”. It'd certainly be more appealing!

This post will begin my experimentation with a GIF:

Good info, thanks for doing your part to spread Steem knowledge and tips to help others. This type of collaboration is the only way steemit becomes Main Stream and widely successful. I upvoted this for sure.

Thanks for checking it out!

Great information for this newbie. It is very satisfying to comment on a new person's post with suggestions and see them learn and improve...and get more noticed. It helps me to learn, improve, and get more noticed, as well.

I love the GIF at the end. I will be using it and will give attribution to @son-of-satire and you...will be giving him a follow, too.

Click below to follow me, @touchman.
Thanks for this GIF, @son-of-satire and @shenanigator.

Cool Bro, I followed you, can you follow me? JK, I think @moderninvestor was curious what he would do if he saw this again???? Anyway Thank You for the great info, I did all of the above and I hope you don't mind me giving that gif a test run.

Just updated my post template. let's see how it works : )

Are you trying the "Follow me @runrudy"?

Really useful information, I can't wait to try it out.

Thanks.

I have upvoted, resteemed and followed you. Don't hesitate to check out my page and if you like any of the posts, don't forget to follow me for more........ 😏

Haha, taking my advice I see! Thanks for the support.

And I do this:

To not to miss anything subscribe to my blog

Follow?

That'll grab your attention!

Haaaa=)) THK, @shenanigator=))

I think that "Follow me @shenanigator" works well because it is so fun to say "shenanigator"!!

Your advice to engage people through the comments sections is spot on. I try to comment on at least ten or so posts per day, as well as interact with anyone who comments on mine.. Keeping the social part of Steemit alive is one of the best ways to get your blog out there. :)

Haha, you might be right about being fun to say.

If you're really active like that, it's going to get people to click on your profile. When they click on it, if they see you have some good blog posts, I think it's pretty likely they'll follow you.

However, if you have no blog posts or if your posts are low quality, then it's probably not going to do much for your following. At least, that's my opinion.

Keep on keepin' on, my friend!

Great tips, I think I'll start putting something like 'If you liked this post, please consider following me at @jen8' or something like that.

That's a nice gif by the way. What program did you use to create it?

It's the work of @son-of-satire. He released the code on his blog for others to use.

If you want to try it out, check out creatr's comment on this post.

Great, thanks!

Great info and view , engage on reply's on your post's .
Vote , and at least leave some answer that is on topic .

Might try the " if you like follow " thing on my next post :-)

I'd recommend trying it on several posts before deciding how well or poorly something works because I don't think one post gives you enough data to come to a conclusion.

How did you create the gif?

It's the work of @son-of-satire. If you want to use it, take a look at the other comments on this post. @creatr posted the code that will link it to your blog - just change @shenanigator to @gniksivart

Thank you! I will try to be doing this more, especially trying hard on the first three points but it hasn't been helpful. Will keep on trying though, because I really love this platform :).

Yeah....about 85% of the people on here dont do anything of these things.... idk what ill do if i see one more "Hey bro, i followed you follow me back bro" comment

Well, many of them are looking to earn a quick buck and are trying to gain followers as fast as possible before posting some random stuff. But that follow4follow method is pretty pointless here, as the only followers you will attract will be new members of the site and even getting them to like your post won't do much in terms of money, as for a new member (as myself) the payout for liking something is 0.01; not a lot by any means. So the best way to grow in popularity is the old-fashioned way, posting original content or at least sharing some quality content from other social media platforms.

para mi es un post muy útil lo pondre en practica!
“Si te ha gustado este, por favor, sígueme por más.”
“Si esto despertó su interés, recuerde que me siguen por más.”
“Si te gusto este, por favor considere que me sigue.”

This is really helpful to we the newbies. It is the truth tho. I have been practising this tactic unknowingly but now thanks to this post of yours, i have gather some info which i am definitely going to try out. Thanks so much for sharing this knowledge.

Already following. I like the GIF. Interested to see if it works. Will you allow others to use it if it does? That will be a question.

It's actually from @son-of-satire, here's the code for your blog:

GENERIC.gif

Okay, that didn't work. I guess I don't know how to post the code without it showing up as the GIF. You can right click on this page, then click "view page source" to see the source code. Then just copy and paste the code where I'm talking about the GIF.

Hahaha thanks

Even better, check out @creatr's comment. In that code he pasted, switch @shenanigator to @aboutyourbiz and it will be a clickable GIF that will send people to your blog.

you're awesome

Test. Verify. That's good marketing. Thank for the suggestions. I'll look forward to the report on your gif results.

When in Rome, right?!

I really like your closing gif!

Thanks for the input, I will be adding something similar to my posts from now on :)

Thanks for posting this tip @shenanigator! I'm now going to do this on my blog posts!

Thanks for sharing this, lots of good info. I recently joined steemit and this whole platform seems like a breath of fresh air compared to the other social media platforms - really interesting.

My plan here (on steemit) is to try to post useful Internet Marketing guides in hopes people will actually be interested in some other money earning techniques - nothing spammy really, just legit; white-hat methods.

Thank you for sharing you results with us shenanigator.

I am curious about the data though. How large was the data sample?

ronni

I agree that it's really about building your following and network, and as you say, the best way to do that is through commenting and interacting. I've read other 'how-to' blogs that insist that it's all about quality content. Of course good content is important, but until you build your base of followers, that content, no matter how good, is likely to go unnoticed. Thanks for giving us newbies a strategy that will actually produce results.

I have been seeing that GIF a lot lately, love it!

@shenanigator can I use your GIF for my blog post?

Some pretty handy tips. Good job

Thanks for sharing your experience. it will help me a lot to get eyes

Great info, thanks for sharing, you pointed great tips
