Battle Of The Steemit Bots

in #steemit6 years ago

Two days ago, a new account became active. The user goes by the handle @iflagshit; which is ironic because they seem to post an awful lot of shit.

And most of that shit seemed to be directed at just one account...

Maybe if he'd targeted steemitboard as well, or any of the spammers on steemit which don't add any value whatsoever, we'd be able to believe him.

Bah

I've made it fairly clear in the past that @transparencybot is a very good thing for steemit, it means people can see exactly how much the original poster spent on votes, it's not an attack on people who use bidbots excessively - it only exists to inform so people can make an educated decision on whether the post deserves their upvote.

So, what can we gather from the @iflagshit account?

At first, I thought it was a flaghappy version of @transparencybot that flags spam, I found out about this account after I saw they'd flagged a transparency post - I thought it must've been in error. But upon close inspection I realised they'd only categorized @transparencybot as spam.

With that in mind, I thought it was a ploy by the bidbot owners to protect their profit margins.

But reading through some of the highly desperate and unprofessional comments being spewed out of this account:

I can tell it's just an angry bidbotter who doesn't want his posts being soiled by the truth.
Or a troll...

Lets take a moment to look at how the steemit community reacted to their introductory post

All his upvotes are from bots and he was nuked with a @nextgencrypto flag!

So we already know there is a personal vendetta between bidbots, @transparencybot and @iflagshit, how could this become anymore of a clusterfuck?

Enter @abusereports.

We now have a linear attack that looks something like this:

Bid bots <-- transparencybot <-- iflagshit <--> abusereports

At least @iflagshit has changed his ways. Right @samueldouglas?

(He's not a spammer)

It's great to the community standing behind, rejecting this actions. If he can't think above his own ego and see what is better for the community he shouldn't have the power given to him by the community and this platform.

Yeah, absolutely right - and everyone's done a great job of revealing what he's up to and downvoting him/upvoting stuff he's downvoted. Thank fuck this guy dosen't have a huge ammount of SP despite his favorite saying being "We've got the funds."

Thank you @sisygoboom for your support and more importantly for taking some time to dig through noise and provide some quality information.

Transparency is truly a great asset. Allowing some tyrant to try to censure it will simply not be tolerated by the community. It is why so many are leaving FB.

Blessings!

Not a problem, I came across this and saw no one posting about it so thought it was worth bringing to light - besides, I enjoyed writing this!

And just make sure to keep up the good work, no matter how many haters attack you, because steemit should be a place where we are free of censorship and oppression by the powers that be.

Ohhh its really nice post @sisygoboom thank you for the post 👍😊
