RE: What do you do when other steemit users are using content you made without permission?

in #steemit8 years ago

So you will be ok if i take your original content without asking for permission and repost it to make money off of?
lol

I shouldnt have to ruin my art with a watermark especially if the people in power look the other way when plagiarism happens to some but not all. should musicians on steemit have to put a wisper tracks in all their music to make it harder to steal? also a watermark would do nothing as they shrunk the gif down to about a 5th the size of the original.

Seems like double standards that i have to abide by rules but others dont. I have had to defend myself from an actual plagiarist saying i dont make my own content (talk about a hastle) but when others use my content it goes silent up in steemit town. Guess i have to be an alt whale account to get away with breaking the rules up in here.

Sure man, I understand your concerns, about plagiarism) Music is a different case - yours is graphic art, and you should think about how to make a pretty watermark - you are designer goddamn xD xD

I kind of see it as the same argument as the sampling argument in music.

in all honesty im kinda over it, next time i run into that ill just leave comments saying "oh wow, you used my gif im so honored."

i kicked some rocks and did some reading about art and copyright laws to the point that i now feel it was to small of a battle to spend time on.

Thanks for your comments and input, ill start looking into watermarks and stuff but honstly i prolly wont put one, i hate the way they look.

have a wonderful evening/day!
