I'd surmise that snowflake is saying that this is the most tragic way to position the application possible. It is NOT AN ATM FREE MONEY MACHINE. It's a diverse and colorful social blogging application riding on top of a unique and potentially powerful cryptocurrency blockchain based eco-system and to position it with a message like this is sort of like calling your own sister a whore.

The only explanation that makes sense to me is that steemit is not focusing on new user acquisitions right now until they are ready to open the floodgates with a new fork where they don't have to pay for new users anymore. So they simply do not give this much thought but will, hopefully, change it once they are ready to grow the number of users.
wow your smart! Who told you about the new hard fork allowing for free account creation via consensus ? This is so true! we have a bottleneck and we will fix it, and new hard fork wil have MANY new features and this Christmas I believe the "gift" is the steemit App coming out, steem will go up with th app since just anouncement of Smart Media tokens made steem price go up!
Quite funny isn't it? Push the 'money talks' more, when it is not actually happening. The lure. Why not promote the community and make the user interface better for bloggers who don't write for money instead, so the new ones won't be disappointed when they see the reality about the money lol.
I don't know why they are still pushing so hard on the money thing, it's in bad taste and makes the site looks scammy imo. If money was all that was needed to attract new users everyone would be on here already but the reality is that most people care more about emoji than money and steemit doesn't even have emoji integrated lmao.
Also steemit needs a complete UI overhaul, steemit inc knows the design sucks because they did a much better one for steemconnect, Iit's very disapointing to see how the UI work is being done for more than a year now ( bits added here and there which basically improve nothing visually)
They did officially post recently that a UI redesign is planned. It will probably take a bit to get there, but at least they have acknowledged it and are planning to do the much needed overhaul that we have all been hoping for.

It is hard work, but this whole application is nothing MORE than an interface to the block chain, and they have done almost NO work to produce their interface really at all, it's not really even a minimum viable prototype level of quality. This thing is so amateur hour and flawed it's absolutely pathetic.

I assess it pretty harshly, but it's a pretty harsh interface. I mean, try to manage your follower list sometime, and when you end up pulling your hair out because they couldn't even stoop to color coding follow/unfollow buttons so you can quickly see them...

I think there is a lot of potential there. Since I joined, I have basically been trying to find ways that I can add value. Probably one of the more difficult aspects of it though is the rewards don't always match the effort. I've had a lot of things that I put a ton of work into, but didn't really get paid much. I've also been overpaid on a lot of things too. For me it has balanced out pretty well, but for others this may not always be the case.
Ahahah yes you get overpaid and underpaid and it balances out! I know hat you mean but you have to realize that this is just reality now and maybe the underpaid stuff is just not as needed by society and the stuff u thought you got overpaid was actually just right and that stuff is simply more valuable to society now!

We'll these days I am one of the top 20 witnesses, so I get paid a lot for what I do. Now, anytime I am posting anything that is part of my job as a witness, I decline payout to avoid getting double paid.
And I will not really care about putting a cover photo until they focus on adding more useful features tbqh. The current UI actually indicates this community is focused on making money only.

I first came to Steemit to make money but found out quickly its not that easy.
I think lots of others will join because of "Join the community that pays you to post and curate high quality content" slogan.

I saw that too... hmmm... maybe the should focus on the community benefits and networks you can create from Steemit, and mention rewards as a secondary thing.... it is not the only reason Steemit exists. To people who are foreign to Steemit, it may look like a total scam.

I am so frustrated by the UX/UI and marketing language fails on this application that I could literally scream at times. I don't get it either. It's some of the most misguided amateur work I've seen in 30 years of technology work, and such a terrible shame.

There is some really good tech and some great tech minds involved in the project but their marketing, PR market research, etc is severely lacking.
The site needs to be focused being the best social media platform available with the added bonus of some reward for it rather than acting like its this huge money making opportunity for everyone.
Of course if they are going to do that then they also need a lot more upgraded UI work as the site is just way to difficult to use for the average social media user. So they can't really attract or expand......
Hopefully real improvements are in the works and we will see them soon!
