I'm fancying the idea of creating a desktop app for Steem, also based on react native and electron. The drawback to this is that I have no code yet written, not a single line.

If I were to vote on the ideas mentioned in your post, I would vote on polishing the PHP library. However, I'm not sure how well this would fare with other projects at the hackathon.
