Welcome to the New SteemitBC! We’re a lot like the old SteemitBC, except we’ve added a few people to the administration team and we have a few new ideas to help the community out.
@sflaherty & @cryptofrygirl started SteemitBC to be a community of dedicated, quality content authors & curators, rather than one of as many members as you can get. This has it’s downsides and it’s upsides. The downside is that the immediate upvote power is not as strong. The upside of this is people are more engaged with one another and more likely to create stronger bonds. The latter leading to more potential re-steems amongst the community and refined content.
Let’s talk about rewards.
Strong relationships are what we are seeking in our community. Quality content should be rewarded with resteems & upvotes and relationships are the best way to achieve & retain that. A resteem by a minnow or a dolphin can bring in much more than just said minnow or dolphin's vote, so we are going to be pushing members to hit that resteem button as well.
We’re also going to be changing the "Steemian of the Day" to "Steemian of the Week", with a bonus. We will delegate 50 SP from the SteemitBC account to the "Steemian of the Week" for 5 days. In September it will increase to 100SP and we hope to double it each month with your help.
Additionally we have a good Facebook & twitter presence which all upvote requests are also posted to.
Let’s talk about engagement.
We want to invite hard working, dedicated steemians to create and administer their own channel on SteemitBC Slack. You can be master of your own channel within our guidelines. By giving people their own channel we believe it will motivate those individuals to build the community. Currently the Photography & Science channels are taken, but the rest are open for you to build into something wonderful.
Sorry spammers you will not find a home with us. If you’re just posting in upvote central looking to get a few votes and not engaging in the community you won’t fit in here. So please be part of the community and contribute.
We do have other things we are working on so stay tuned. In the meantime, keep an eye out for Steemian of the week right here every Friday.
