I'm really liking the SteemIt contests - from challenges to be healthy to challenges to see if you can spot a pattern. These remind me of athletic contests in high school where we would win cash prizes, gift cards, or fun items we liked.
I have a challenge of my own for people offering these contests: rather than allow anyone to participate, consider allowing people who contribute to the health of the SteemIt platform. The best advertising for SteemIt is a higher price, as we've seen. Just this month alone, 12% of the total SteemIt accounts have been registered. As Steem rises, people are more likely to return or sign up. How can we help with the rise of the price? Encourage long term thinking.
In other words, don't reward people who power down all the time, people with no Steem Power, or people who are dragging down the platform by being negative. If your contest says something like, you must have 20 Steem Power to participate with no recent power downs, you are encouraging long term thinking on this platform that contributes to a more stable price which attracts attention.

($0.14)
(859.65)
($120.35)
I want to remind the people who are selling Steem at a good price: you ultimately depend on people powering up to achieve this stable price. If you don't reward people powering up, SteemIt may crash again like we saw in the past. We must constantly reward the people who believe and work to build a stable platform that rises in price over time without huge crashes.
One glance at the history shows that less than 20% of our total users are active in the last month! Our last crash gave a lot of people a terrible taste of Steem. The vast majority of those users have never returned and may never return. If Steem crashes again in price, we may see this problem again. It's more important for all of us to get users who stay on the platform than get a temporary spike.
Do we want to repeat past mistakes or grow this time? I want to grow.
Great idea, @steemquestions I love how you communicate and get people to think with your questions. > You make Steem beautiful!
