I'm a similar age, but still need to work for now. I just like playing around with social media, meeting new people and having discussions. That's why I value comments. The fact that we can potentially make some money here is a bonus. Until today I hadn't made much, but I have a couple of decent earning posts now.
The whales have to appreciate how things look to us minnows. Some will feel hard done by, but are we really entitled to get anything? Anything is better than what we get on most sites. There will be some bad attitudes on both sides, but I'd prefer constructive discussion to build something amazing with this site.
