I'm not much of a writer but was excited about steemit as well. I am quickly finding it is quite a circle jerk. I bet another social crypto comes out that is better.

I complain loudly about how shit everything is because I want the platform to be better, sadly though I agree with what you think, vested interests and people who don't know how social media, human psychology and marketing works together are guiding the place into an early grave when we consider the resources that must be available to our potential competitors.
Steemit is the blog/vlogging platform. STEEM is the crypto of which you speak; and, is doing quite well on the various platforms it recognizes.
