Well, lots to learn here! Word of mouth is one of the best ways to market steemit in developing nations. For one, physical presence is essential as it carries a warmth that spurs action.
Other than this, awareness is a good start as well as proper pacing. You don't necessarily have to be too pacey in getting new steemians onboard especially, when you are meeting them for the first time. So getting acquainted, warm handshakes and multiple smiles, is good start!

Basically, we visited the Red Cross Philippines event to tell them; "steemit cares". And that is a good start!
Next, is arrangement for a proper meetup, that will contain 93 youth heads from different branches of Red Cross Philippines and ofcourse, a steemit presence!
Steemian delegates will go play roles in discussing steemit and have these youth leaders sign up to steemit. "I will updates on how this goes!"
Talks are in place to have Red Cross Philippines join steemit! This will require a written proposal and is being worked upon by appropriate members of @steemph.
Both "steemgigs" witness and "cloh76.witness" will play roles in organization, in a variety of ways!
Ultimately, awareness to steemit is a plus!
Red Cross plays the role of leaders and are known worldwide. Now imagine a headline like:
Steemit.com donates steem-backed dollars in a Red Cross Philippines Fundraiser to help Marawi!
Not bad!
The coming weeks will involve more budget steemit meetups to create opportunities for more steemit sign-ups. I am still organizing strategies to accomplish this effectively and suggestions are very much welcomed.
For the Philippines, it is possible to accomplish meetups over steemit-sponsored meals, coffee etc, thus, we will look to effect this and support steemians who want to set up budget steemit meetups in their city.

If you are in Manila and would like to gather coworkers, classmates etc to a meetup in an eatery, etc, we can work out ways to make meals free and come around with a crew, to discuss steemit to the group.

We are hopeful for a successful steemit orientation in Cebu tomorrow to be hosted by @jassennessaj & @themanualbot. They are promoting steemit round their university, while we help tutor them and help the new steemians resulting from their effort to thrive.

Apart from budget steemit meetups and eventual big steemit conventions, i am looking at doing some SBD-powered cards to give out, which will only be redeemable upon successful steemit sign up and introduction.
I am still think about design and appropriate SBD-giveaway amounts!
We will use the expertise of the "steemgigs community" to accomplish card design.
Overtime, we will find ways to be more effective in bringing about steemit growth in the Philippines. As for sustained growth, we will accomplish this by targeting the right audience and supporting (curation) the existing community of steemians based in the Philippines.
