My main advice is to join Discord if you haven't yet. Most of the community here happens off of Steemit.
Also, following the people who have left good comments here will probably help you a lot.

I'll definitely join Discord. I gave steemit chat a look a few days ago, but there wasn't much activity. Thanks for the recommendations!
