RE: Steemit Winter Update: 2017 reflection, our Vision Statement and Mission, and a look forward

in #steemit6 years ago

We know what big features Steemians want: communities, spam management, modular application components for simple and fast development, a great sign-up flow, Smart Media Tokens... and they want it yesterday.

No, that's not it at all. That's what YOU want. We want a solution for power centralization and its abuse (see: reward pool rape), tools for community communication and better content discovery on the platform. YOU want SMTs. YOU want modular application whatever. What makes you think it's what the community prioritizes? Especially the non-developer crowd?

You say "Steemians" but you speak of developers. The users who just create content and curate and grow the community? We don't matter cause we can't code. And we sure as hell feel it. If you're not a developer or sitting on a million SP, Steemit Inc doesn't see you. Steemit doesn't care about broken power distribution on the platform (decentralized my ass) or the miniscule retention rates (90% of users quit after less than a month) as long as the code gets written.

I am deeply disappointed with this constant focus on the product over the userbase. It is not a healthy path for Steemit, IMHO. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see if this A+ team steemit hired will actually do something for us little people.
